300K for SFR would seem about average or little above that; i know my neighbors in carmel valley spent about 70K(DIY)-250K, with an average of ~l00K or so. But then that include price of a pool, which adds at least ~50K.

justboughtParticipantbad things about Carmel Valley besides $$$:
– no shopping nearby (Malls, Target store, etc)
– no good & cheap eats nearby (especially Asian food)
– everything closes early
– homes, parks, & schools and not much else.
– kids racing bicycles on your streetjustboughtParticipantbad things about Carmel Valley besides $$$:

But school-wise it’s great: There are 3 elementary schools, including Sage Canyon, Torrey Hills, and Ocean Air. You can check them out to see how they compare to other schools.

October 19, 2007 at 3:16 PM in reply to: Grrrr…Can’t stand people like my neighbors that want to plant so much crap on such a small lot. #90213justboughtParticipanti must say, some people to abuse HOA. Everyone on my block received a letter from HOA, telling us to remove the picket sign of my landscaping company. One freaking person (obviously, one of the few without a sign) doesn’t like seeing the signs on the block and go tells the HOA. I know it’s in the HOA rules, but to be fair, my landscaper needs advertisement too.
