It is strange to hear someone being blase about rising prices. If the value of the dollar falls, imports become more expensive. Imports include food. When food prices rise, people complain loudly.
I would like to see the Government implement programs that would allow for any hungry person in America to be able to buy food. This may increase the deficit, but I would rather the U.S. take on more debt than allow people within its borders to starve.
How about you? Are you in favor of strengthening the social safety net?
Who is hungry in America? Seems to me no one is starving in the streets…
I would love to see even one anecdotal story. I think you’d argument is pure illusion.

jstoeszParticipantWalter, You are a more cynical bastard than me! “Working out” does not entail wealth, it only means being happy with one’s current circumstance. And that my friends is the key to life! If you live in a trailer, who cares as long as your wife loves you and respects you, and your kids are not tweakers. Joy is a state of mind.
I think christ helps, btw…oh man you all know I’m Christian now.
jstoeszParticipantWhats the expression?
“Hope is not a financial strategy?”
jstoeszParticipantFor the record, I just assumed newtosd was sarcastic too…sad really.
jstoeszParticipantWhen does short term become long term?
We have been in short term mode for 4 years and I have yet to see it pay off long term. We need to enact long term thinking. It’s our only way of getting out of short term thinking. We are in the new normal, now it’s time for a new future.
Stop bribing and start investing. Btw, investing is getting long term benefits for current outlays. I heard someone say yesterday that the bed they just bought was an investment! No depreciating good is an investment unless it brings long term profit. We need to use language more precisely.
jstoeszParticipantYet another instance of the dying need for a sarcasm font.
jstoeszParticipantThat is why you would need a grass roof…although in SD is should probably be rock. You have to hide it from the aerial building inspectors. I hear they have CCTV on all building sites.

jstoeszParticipantI guess the contrast is what is startling. There are lots of stupid self interested blue hair types at tea party rallies, and lots of worthlessly educated knownothings at OWS rallies. But at the end of the day, it is the contrast in stewardship that is startling. Remember all the claims of racism at the tea partiers? Was there the kind of violence and shabbiness at the tea party rallies? I wasn’t there, but I doubt it . Maybe it is a function of youth vs seniors, but I think ideology plays a role too…
Btw, I support the general frustration, but so far I am not impressed by the prognosis of the OWS folks. If you hate government collusion with greedy crony capitalists, why would you support more government. That strikes me as naive to put it mildly.
Trying to end lobbying is impossible, read some history for goodness sake. We will never be rid of that plague. We can only render it ineffective.
jstoeszParticipant
Interestingly major health gains for the human race were made from simple things like sanitation measures and understanding of nutrition. “Mircle” drugs and the medicalization in recent decades of so many of life’s vicissitudes—birth and death, for example—frequently cause more harm than good and rendered many people in effect lifelong patients. Modern medicine has not positively impacted modern life in aggregate.
The parabolic trajectory of unhealthy people over the past few decades props up the medical behemoth. With most of the unhealthyness caused by modern society..
Monetary success has less and less a corolation with really adding something beneficial to society as time goes on. We seem to profit off of problems generated by the same system. You might say, patterns of unhealthy behavior are needed for continuance.
Cancer treatment has come a long way.
jstoeszParticipantWhy cant republicans find a Ron Paul with a foreign policy based in reality? Painful really. Romney is a pandering joke.
If it is Obama v Romney, I fear I’ll spit the vote for Paul. Sad…
jstoeszParticipantIf you can stick to it, it’s legit, but stay away from the p90 yoga. I still hate the for that one.
jstoeszParticipantTry the leg blasters, that dude has tree trunks and he can’t make it through. He is collapsing like a senile old man.
If you are looking to get strong, try them.
It has done wonders for my telemarking.
