vagabondo – I’m impressed that you have 4 children. That’s a lot of responsibility – and expense – sending them to a private school. I hope you don’t live somewhere that subjects you to M.R., although if it is a sensitve touchy issue with you, then I’m suspecting you are paying double, so to speak.
I heard Westview was a good high school. From my understanding, though I could be misinformed, lower grade education is very critical to future education, so if the elementary schools have any impact on the children in the early years, maybe it still can be factored into later years, if that makes any sense.

jpinpbParticipantI’m sorry. I really have to say of all the professions, I would not say teachers are overpaid. They have to go to school for years to get teaching degrees, pay for their student loans for years and then get a job teaching overcrowded classes w/cuts around every corner.
Not to really get on a hot topic button and no offense to SD Realtor – my dad was a real estate broker – but there are a lot of realtors who are not the best representation of their profession making 6 digits for not doing much, especially the past few years, so I dare say, they would be the ones overpaid.
Now, please, all you realtors, take it easy and don’t beat me up too much.

jpinpbParticipantThis is just me personally. It’s hard to take M.R., especially if you don’t have kids. But then you’re paying back into the community and hopefully helping the education system and paying forward so the youth of our society become good citizens. Theoretically, in a perfect world. You invest in the future. Resale in good school districts is always a bonus for those w/children – no offense to those who hold those family values so dear – breeders abound, so can’t go wrong w/ buying in a good school district and M.R. accounts for that.
I think eventually, as the schools are built and the community is built-out, however many tens of years down the road, doesn’t the M.R. decrease? As opposed to HOAs, which never go away and if anything, increase as expenses, maintenance fees and costs rise. I’m not sure on that. I could be totally wrong and misinformed.

jpinpbParticipantHey Navydoc – I figured you spotted this one, but just in case.
If nothing else, this will be a comp killer for the neighborhood.
