ParticipantMy aunts/sisters all have $1000-$2000 LV, Chanel bags. It is crazy. Some have more than one. They buy jeans that are around $150. The problem is that they all make less than $50K a year. My sister is thinking about buying a Lexus RX350 and trading in her still perfectly running 2004 ES330. Why do they think that they deserve these luxury products?
I don’t know what will happen to this country but I think the economic punishment (in term of inlation and higher taxes) is coming and it will be much worst than most people realize.
And our leaders, man, how many times did you hear Bush says “go out and spend to help the country”?

ParticipantMy commute is 80 miles one way (Carmel Valley to OC). Luckily I work from home 2 days a week. I am driving a Prius and getting around 54 MPG.
Estimated miles per year: ~32K
32000/54 = 592.6 gallons (Prius)
32000/28 = 1143 gallons (Accord)592.6 gallons * $3.75/gallon = $2222
1143 gallons * $3.75/gallon = $4286Anyone who is driving from Telecula/Murietta to OC or to SD should think about getting a Prius. One of my coworker drives from Murietta to OC in her Suburban for the last 3 years. I just don’t get it.

ParticipantSDR,
Do you know what happened to this property? It is gone from SDLOOKUPS but I don’t see it in the Closed Sales section.
Many thanks,

ParticipantEven with the home price went down around 30% I think it is more difficult for me to buy right now compared to 2006 (5-10% down era) mainly because I don’t have enough for a 20% down. Most of my friends who don’t already own homes are in the same boat. We can make the monthly payment but we don’t have the 20% down payment.
For example, if I buy a $500K home, I would need to have $120-$130K in cash. We are trying to save but probably still 3-4 years away.
So I think bottom or not, most young couples can’t afford a decent house right now.jimmyle
