ParticipantYeah $400+ per sq ft is expensive. But someone is buying it. The house is small but that is the only thing in Carmel Valley (near the 5 fwy) that I think I might be able to afford. I need to live near Mira Mesa but don’t like most of it. Except the newer homes along Calle Cristobal which are not cheap either.

ParticipantSold for $400K, it would take a minimum of $50K to make it livable. New carpet, new paint, front drive way, bathroom, and fixing the pool.

ParticipantNow looking back, I could have bought two or three houses. Borrow $1 Mil from the banks. Go to Vietnam, get a beautiful mistress and two servants and live like a King.
It could have been done easily. How dumb are the banks?
