ParticipantHere is an article discussing tax friendly places to retire.
Georgia is on the list. I lived for 16 years in Atlanta. In normal times Atl is pretty much a boom town with plenty of jobs.
I would look at living in North Georgia maybe 60-80 miles from downtown. Atl has 4-5 “downtowns” and you are never far from jobs.
Huntsville Alabama would be a great place too as would Birmingham.

ParticipantI have built houses before. My suggestion is to buy not build because if you build you will have to deal with the Code Nazi’s which will ruin your life.

ParticipantSkip. Plus it’s such joke. 80% of it will go to pay and benefits for employees. No way.
When will people get how the state is fleecing private sector employees???
Everytime you see where they need money for parks, health care etc remember 80% goes to union employees so they can afford to walk on the beach for 50 years.
