Normally, the comments on this board are super informative and I feel like I get valuable info here.
The LA Times article was interesting and somewhat informative. However, the initial assessment of the article was trite and sexist.
I’ve got to say that I’m a little surprised. I expect better from Piggington’s!

JCParticipantIf you create a log-in @ http://www.sandiego-mls.com/index.html you can see this listing.
The home does look beautiful and is on a huge lot, but as another poster noted it is very close to the 15. Also, it close to Kensington, but it is still Normal Heights.
So, I guess I am confused as how this commands such a premium? Is the idea that the land could be developed further? Or, am I missing some other obvious factors?
Thank you.

JCParticipantNPR comments this a.m.
On NPR this a.m. it was noted that realtors specializing in foreclosures are doing quite well right now as there are lots of investors looking for bargains.
This may be a stupid question, but what impact (if any) do you think this will have on the correction in our market? Slightly slower decline??

JCParticipantAgreed, these areas aren’t perfect, but they do have a lot to offer. There are some really nice parts of NP and University Heights and I’ve found both of these neighborhoods to be much friendlier than the beaches or the UTC area (nice areas too). Thank you so much for all of the input. π
BTW, I realize that I did not ask my original question appropriately. I was not looking for a professional opinion on the value of that particular home (was not looking for info that shouldn’t be posted on a public forum). I was just looking for gut reaction to what folks would pay for something like that as I just can’t imagine anyone paying anywhere close to the list price. However, I guess that can be said for many properties on the market right now…….

JCParticipantI apologize. I thought I had seen similar forums here in the past and thought that this might be an ok question to ask. I absolutely appreciate your offer of assistance, but I’m not serious about making offers right now, so I don’t want to wast your time. Like most on this forum, I believe that prices will come down, so I’m sitting on the sidelines for now. The reason I asked the question was because I do like that area of North Park (prefer a few blocks south of that house) and I’m curious about what others think the value of those homes in that area are. Thanks again.

JCParticipantAny chance I could get similar info on 1086 Hayes? π
