ParticipantI was having the same thoughts, 2002 was high also, and things should have slowly started to trend down correct? The rates were dropped though, so things shot through the roof.
Sometimes I think CA residents have gotten accustomed to thinking of housing being a high cost. Kind of like gas, we used to balk at paying 2.50, now we cheer if it’s under $3
