ParticipantWow, how ugly. Figure’s they’re Quigleys. I know he wins awards all the time, but I freaking hate everything he does. His designs are usually super cluttered with way too many competing textures at work. He either has ADD or feels a compulsive need to throw everything but the kitchen sink into everything he designs. His HQ in Little Italy is a pretty good example of Rob Quigley Awfulness.
This and its neighbors actually show a surprising amount of restraint. Still not my cup of tea, though.
Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. I feel much better now.

ParticipantI remember watching this play out, because I wanted to buy a house near the beach and couldn’t afford one. But my salary kept slowly increasing and house prices kept falling and eventually the two met and I bought my first house in 1994… pretty much at the bottom or within a few months of it anyway. Just plain dumb luck that it worked out that way.

ParticipantI don’t think you’d see any additional benefit at all because dehumidifiers and air conditioners use the same underlying principle: cold air cannot hold as much moisture as warm air. Air conditioners and dehumidifiers both use a refrigerant to cool the air, forcing it to precipitate moisture out. Since your house air conditioner is already doing that, the dehumidifiers would be superfluous.
Both processes generate net heat. The main difference between the two is that the air conditioner vents the heat (and the moisture) to the outside, whereas the dehumidifier just dumps the heat into the room and collects the water into a bucket.

Participant
Folks, if you really hate CA public unions…Just move out of this state.[…]
A lot of them were defense enginerds/managers/etc, and[…]
I don’t see how sucking on the government titty as a defense enginerd/manager/etc is all that different from doing it as a lifeguard or a prison guard.
