ParticipantUSAA is great if you qualify. We ended up getting a better policy from Travelers though as we needed Builders Risk for our remodel and they were cheaper. Wawanesa’s quote was high although they are a *GREAT* company.

ParticipantCorrect, unless you get the LTV below 80% due to Capital Improvements (subject to appraisal of course) which we have done. The only caveat is that you can’t have it removed in the first 12 months.

ParticipantWe bought out house with an FHA loan back in August. It was a nightmare fraught with providing a ridiculous amount of information and TWO hack appraisers. But we closed. Subsequent to that I am dumping all the cash into a remodel right now… Hopefully will be able to get the PMI off at the end of the first year term.
