ParticipantHere is my prediction:
As a consequence of Alex’s lack of real estate knowledge/understanding, he will become increasingly baffled by the housing market.
Alex will become increasingly confused and exhibit a split personality, bordering on schizophrenia.
Eventually, he will give up & pull the trigger (buy a house). He will end up being a “knife catcher” & got cut badly π

ParticipantIn the meantime, it seems criminal for our landlord to continue to collect rent while not paying the mortgage. I'm starting to think that I'll never see my $2500 deposit.
The landlord is required to pay the mortgage while collecting rent from the renter, right ?Β I think sakina96 have some legal recourse regarding this matter.

ParticipantAlex, you seem to have a split personality
Alex reminds me of a guy in Temecula by the name of 1234VC (I dont remember his exact name). He always argued that prices cannot go down much. From his posts, it was obvious that he knew very little about real estate.
He finally pulled the trigger & bought. As soon as he bought, someone else got a much better deal in the same neighborhood π
Now, compared to this guy, Alex seems to be more afraid of the downside potentials. But Alex is equally naive about the real estate market π

ParticipantWon't most if not all home loans in SD be a Jumbo since most people even with 20% down still will be above $417k?
Yes. That's why the next 2 years will bring the RE market to its knees.

Participant>> From my observations. 4S and nicer parts of Rancho bernardo will pick up again.
Alex, maybe you should put your money where your mouth is & buy.
Action speaks louder than words.

ParticipantBy the time the dust settles, this house or houses equivalent to it will go for a lot less than $400k.
