ParticipantWeird thing just happened…
I just tried to use the SDTREASTAX website to look up my rental property tax payment status.
When I used the property lookup by address (I don;t commit my parcel number to memory) it pops up the incorrect parcel number and the name of someone I do not know.
When I use the correct parcel number (had to use sdlookup.com to find it) it showed my tax payment status.
Anyone know how to look up an address via the parcel number ?

ParticipantInteresting find.
Plenty of other possible explanations:
Are there any lawsuits related to the property ? Is it being sold, transferred or refinanced. If his loan has impounds, did the lender fail to pay the taxes ?He could be making the decision to let it go, or it could be any number of issues.
Time will tell.
Has anyone on this board ever had their lender fail to pay impounded taxes on time ?
It happened to me once in the late 1990’s and they ended up paying the fine for me. Luckily, I am not in the financial media business.

ParticipantGetting a car loan immediately before getting a mortgage is not a great idea. Your credit score will drop a bit and your debt ratio will be higher.
When I obtained a car loan 3 years ago I watched my credit score drop about 40 points to about 740. It took 9 months or a year to get back t where it had been.
If you are still 12 months away, it does not really matter much on your score, but impacts your DTI ratio. If you will be purchasing at low DTI anyway (e.g. 25%), then the only thing to consider is your score.
