ParticipantHere’s a house for sale across the street from an elementary school that would surely be a bargain at $1.1 M. It’s not really my taste, but I’d take it for ~1.1 Mil.

ParticipantWhat kind of fees for an IRA ?
I’ve had IRA accounts for about 15 years, initiaially with Jack White & CO, who were bought out by TD waterhouse, who then merged with Ameritrade to become TDAmeritrade.
What kind of fees are you talking about ?
Annual fees ?The only fees I pay are broker fees (9.99 per trade) when I buy or sell stocks. They have a bunch of mutual funds, but I use mostly ETFs, which trade like stocks.

ParticipantThere can be circumstances where being across from a school and paying 1.1 Million would be a bargain. It depends where this property is located, what the neighborhood is like, etc. Many other factors to consider.
Example : Warner Elementary school in Westwood (LA, 90024). If you can buy a house across the street from that school for under 1.5M, you are getting a bargain. Most would be in the ~ 2 million range.
