ParticipantThe only question I ask is: why does tax code ask me to pay AMT but does not ask Mitt to pay AMT?
If there was one person in the world for which AMT was designed by the wise heads in congress – Mitt Romney would be his name….
Yet, here I am paying that stupid tax (AMT) but not Mitt! Isn’t world an unfair place!!!

ParticipantWhat are our priorities as a city?
1. repair our roads and transport?
2. Fund our schools and colleges?
3. Build new transport to commute in the city?
4. Solve our water problem?
5. Improve quality of living for citizens?
6. Get rid of structural budget deficit without gimmicks?OR
Start another mega-project with legally questionable means, based on laughable studies performed by people with conflicted interests that only benefit the mega-rich in the city based on an editorial of a paper who was bought out by developer?
This while we already have an example of another project similar to this completely ruining the fiscal health of the city less than 10 years ago.
I don’t know about you but they say fool me once shame on you; fool me twice shame on me!

Participant
After President Obama signed the NDAA on New Years Eve, I can’t imagine why ANYONE would vote for Obama. Regardless of political leanings…
The election is choice between Obama, Gingrich or Romney. Here is each of their position about NDAA
Obama: signs with reservations.
Romney : Will sign it (presumably without any reservations) (http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=38017)
Gingrich : Defends it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLYu4TbYRW4)So how can you imagine someone voting for Gingrich/Romney then?
If you are saying one should vote for Paul then fine. Get him on the ballot of the general election first, then we’ll talk! Till then don’t just single out Obama – its not like people who are likely to be his challengers have any different position.

ParticipantIf the city is going to declare bankrupcy eventually, let’s might as well do that after building that mega stadium-plus-convention center-plus-arena-plus-library-plus-city hall built with overpriced unionized labor by the joint venture of the hotelier-developer-publisher of UT & builder-developer-owner of the Chargers.

ParticipantI don’t care either way as long as it is Obama, Romney or Huntsman.
My number #1 priority when voting is to make sure that there is balance in the system after the election.
As of today it looks like GOP will control house, senate and Supreme court after the election-2012 (although they won’t have 60 votes in the senate.)
Hence as of now it is Obama for me! In CA, my vote for president does not make any difference any way!

Regarding Wall Street and the financial system, you can’t rely on Wall Street during good times and then blame Wall Street when things go bad. We are all part of the same economic system, so we should all share the pain.
Participant
Some freeways through LA are supposed to be partially closed between Christmas and the end of the year.
– All westbound lanes of the 60, the Pomona Freeway, between the 605 interchange and the 710 will be shut down from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. three consecutive nights beginning Sunday, Caltrans said.
– the northbound 405 around Seal Beach will be blocked each weeknight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for scheduled maintenance. (This will suck!)
– In the San Fernando Valley, the ongoing 5 Freeway widening and re-construction project will close all but one lane in both directions across the San Fernando Valley between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. seven days per week. (This will suck too.)

ParticipantLooking at the traffic screen on google maps last few days this seems like easiest way (assuming you are starting close to 15)
I15N to 91W to 71N to 57N to 210W to 5N!
(Temecula-Corona-Chino Valley-Pomona-San Dimas-Pasadena to 5)
About ~ 10 miles longer but seems a lot less congested!

ParticipantObama’s main failure was to not invoke the memories of George W. Bush every day.
Now that people have forgotten GWB, they have begun to think that every problem we face today has been created by Obama and they have began finding GWB’s clones attractive again!
