Craigslist is great! I have had good experiences buying and selling. My tips: sell in increments of $20’s because most people go to the atm on the way, take cash only of course, and don’t post your phone #. Delete your ad as soon as it’s sold.

HEY cmCg I’ve been here since ’53 and I remember Johnny Downs dancing on the Golden Arrow bottle; then he would say “join the thousands all over San Diego county who have CHANGED to Golden Arrow”. Channel 10 everyday after school. I also remember the two lane road (CMB) from Clairemont to Kearney Mesa out to Convair (later General Dynamics) where everything was red dirt – no buildings. Cows grazing on farms in Clairemont, Mission Bay was like a pristine preserve, The “Quad” and the “Square” in Clairemont displayed bomb shelters, Kings Drive-In, I could go on and on…eccen in esc

Neighborhoods: Valley Center or rural NC Inland east of I 15
Dwelling: house, mobile, mfr home, tipi, yurt,
Price range: up to $450
Size range: two bedrooms
Currently: rent 3/2 on 1.4 ac. in SW Esc w/pool (nice, but oh how I detest wall to wall carpeting filled with the filthy vermin of past tenants, cottage cheese ceilings with the nooks and crannys filled with old cigarettes, grease and sounds of bygone days, “curtains” made of plastic strips that go clickity click at the slightest breeze)
Shopping the market?: more like window shopping. Each day I check in with Zip, Realtor.com, Craigslist, NC Times, FSBO.com, etc.(also have an agent) just in case that perfect little dreamhouse on acres with oaks, stream, well, built before 1960 with fruit trees in a picturesque setting
happens to come up in my price range. Til then I wait impatiently. Goal: sustainable homesteadI’m Not Like Everybody Else”

brrrr – my feet are getting colder by the minute. I have a lot of serious thinking to do. All this advice has been excellent and I will be considering it all very carefully.
As far as hot this summer, well the house does have a pool.
And I don’t like the thought of leaving the piggingtons either.
Thanks to every one of you who took time to contribute to practical and sensible solutions to my dilemma. I really do appreciate all the input.

wow. thanks to all of you for this helpful advice. I will post the address and a lot of questions will be answered. The elderly couple bought in ’79 for $160 and I think they owe about $423. I will have to get comps from my agent but as far as asking him what to put down that’s not going to work because he really needs the sale and doesn’t want me to offer too low. I was thinking $675. The address is 2702 Mountain View Dr, Esc 92027. I guess I don’t need to worry about any of the Piggingtonians underbidding me.
