ParticipantI dont know about cbad, but in MM rents are falling and demand is weak. I think alot of people are downsizing, staying put or moving the hell outa Ca.
I know it is just total random chance, but I have randomly met 3 people/families in the past two weeks that are moving outa Ca. I have a feeling long term tenants are moving back east and it is alittle hard to replace them right now with no one wanting to sign long term contracts.DWCAP

Participant
It seems impossible because I meet with people everyday and hear what they have in cash savings sitting in the bank. Just met another 40 something couple today, 1st time homebuyers sitting on $200K plus in the bank. I run into a couple of these every week. I cant be meeting all them.
You may not be meeting all of them, but considering your buisness, your location, and your obvious reputation, I have a feeling you meet many many more than stastically are in the general population.
(not to disagree about the pricing issue, 100/sqft even Id buy up there, and I dont want to live there)

Participant

But I still dont see any reason why we couldnt cut our way out of this mess.
I hope you realize its all those government employees spending money on private-sector goods and services that’s keeping us afloat right now!
If it is true that Government deficit spending is the only thing keeping us afloat right now than we are already screwed.
Plus, you still have not answered the question at all. Why cant we cut the budget enought to meet current and projected tax income?
Is your answer because then we would fall into a deeper recession?
