Participant
How about when the government bails out private pensions?
Don’t you think that the value of the your 401k has been help up by Federal action?
Hey Brian…….THE GOVERNMENT MONEY COMES FROM US, THE TAX PAYERS! They produce nothing, just redistribute from producers while they take a cut. Essentially what the article is about. So quit acting like they gave this money out of charity that they actually generated through production.

Participant
The problem with health care in America is that the industry can charge whatever it wants, after the fact.
If you give an architect a blank check, he can build you the nicest house. But can you afford it?
Everyone wants to stay at the Ritz Carlton, but the average person can only afford Holiday Inn.
We need to find a way for the consumer to share the burden of care and see the cost of care ahead of time; so the consumer can benefit from shopping for health care like he shops for electronics.
For day to day stuff, medicine is not that hard. Just pick up some books and read.
We need to educate people so that they know what is healthy and what isn’t.
We can only nanny so much…..we already do way more than we should. If a customer is too stupid to shop and determine the best value for his money than I don’t feel bad if he doesn’t get the best deal.

With “socialist” healthcare systems, the goal is health; in a “capitalist” system, the goal is higher profits — even if those profits come at the expense of people’s health.
Saying “Capitalist” healthcare is only concerned about profits is similar to an anti “socialist” mentality of saying socialist models are only concerned about death beds and providing care to people who can contribute to the system through working. It is a blanket statement. I work for a large health care provider and never once have we sat around at executive meetings discussing ways to ream it to the patient through upselling and unnecessary care. If word got out patients would go one of the many other competitive providers.
I know you guys hate the capitalist system but we do actually care about our patients despite what you may think.
