Sadly, this site has been a ghost town for a while.  Market is expensive and just moving sideways, not much to report, though I really appreciate Rich’s periodic updates!

Rode the 2010 – 2019 wave up and sold. Missed the COVID price explosion tho…still renting and hoping for a better entry point.

At a minimum set up a revocable family trust.  My understanding is that irrevocable trusts are really only beneficial for those with 8 figure net worths that are subject to estate tax.

Transfer property title into it and attorney will advise how to vest bank/investment accounts (in the name of the trust or personally with beneficiary designations).

A few grand for a revocable trust will pay dividends to your beneficiaries in both cost and effort when the time comes – definitely worthwhile.

Great insights, Coronita.  Have driven the 981 and 430i, but have yet to drive the C6 and F-Type. The Jag is at the top of the list at the moment but could suffer from the lack of parts availability you mentioned, will research typical stuff to see pricing/availability.  It’s just gorgeous, you don’t see many of them and it sounds amazing. The 430i is likely the most functional, reasonable, reliable but I’m afraid it’s not exciting enough compared to the others.

Glad EV prices are coming back down to earth. I looked at buying one for my wife in late 2022 and the price premium including markups at the time over a hybrid made it economically unreasonable.  I could pay for the extra gas for like 15 years before breaking even.  Ended up getting a hybrid that’s served us well.  I feel like the depreciation curve on EVs is pretty brutal, too.  Once they get 50-60k on the clock, people worry about the battery life and the value just tanks.

I’m with Toyota and believe plug-in hybrids are the best overall bet – enough range to do most or all of your typical daily driving but a tank of gas to eliminate range anxiety on longer trips.  That’s likely what well get next.

Are you on vacation, sdr?  I’m still here lurking on your north county update! Question – if a listing comes up on Zillow immediately as ‘Pending’ with no record of ‘Listed for sale’, does that mean the seller and their agent cut a deal off market?
