CritterParticipant
I present for your consideration:
A beachfront property in Oceanside. Yes, it faces the ocean, but Oceanside is not La Jolla. In addition the “house” is 796 square feet and was purchased in 2000 for $599K.
Current price tag: two and one half million…. $2,500,000.00.
Redfin link:
http://redfin.com/stingray/do/printable-listing?listing-id=892675
BTW the price per sq foot pencils out to $3100.
No photo – for that price tag and even as a tear-down, I would expect at LEAST a pic of the ocean it faces.

CritterParticipantWow – the backyard looks unfinished too! There’s beautiful grass along the rear strip but an awkward triangle-shaped dirt patch next to the patio furniture.
Looks like they left out a tree or bush along with bathroom storage.
Is this one of those places referred to as a “blank palette awaiting your finishing touches?”

CritterParticipantThe pink house… the avocado living room…. the horrendous Apache-orange and brown tile around the fireplace that completely clashes with the avocado paint….
a wonderful find!
Those who can’t get on Zip, the sign-up process is quick and provided you take care to unclick the email opt-ins, you won’t be bothered by their agents. Then you, too, can view these incredibly color choices.
It’s also handy if you’re looking for a home for real, of course!

CritterParticipantSounds like a name change is in order – Imprudential, or perhaps Rudential.

CritterParticipantWhat I like about http://www.thehousingbubbleblog.com is that the blogger (Ben Jones) scours nationwide newspapers for articles about housing, then posts them in geographic order during the day. First thing in the morning, I’m reading about the East Coast, and then it’s the Midwest in the early afternoon and the West Coast right before I clock out.
Not that I read these at work.
Lastly, the people who comment on the articles usually live in the neighborhood, so I get some real-life perspective too.
