THaT’s the big draw for me. 🙂
I’d use it every Sat night…
Except if you read the fine print on the laws… these driverless cars still require a driver to take control if needed…
I expect that to change as driverless cars become better and more accepted.
With the state of the technology right now, I agree with the law.
I wouldn’t trust my life with autonomous car.
You know, I would not want to entrust an autonomous car with it’s decision making process if there is an unavoidable accident between you (with your kid in a passenger car) and the other car (with 5 people in it). The last thing I would want is for the car to take me off the road and kill me and my kid, simply because the algorithm was programmed in such a way to preserve as many lives as possible, even if the other car is driving in the wrong direction or driving recklessly…

I would never get caught drunk if I were using a self driving car.

CoronitaParticipant
I’m excited about self-drive cars. Hope to get one in my lifetime.

CoronitaParticipant
Oh, I agree with all of that flu.
Personlly, I believe connections are extremely important in life. In fact, that’s exactly how my kids got into their chosen careers. Regardless of education, none of them would be where they are (doing what they love) without them.
I was simply responding to the commonly held belief that going to a particular school in a partcular district holds the magical key to a perfect destiny. It may contribute, but it’s definitely not the ultimate determining factor.
edit: I was responding to the deleted post.
I was in a bad mood..at work.. wasn’t directed at you…I removed the snarky comment…because well, I’m sick and tired of people telling me to “work smarter”. lol…..There wasn’t many times I wish I was born into a billionaire’s family…Today pushed me closer to that edge…

CoronitaParticipant
Are they finally going to connect the western side of Park Village to the 56 now? I always find it dumb not to have Camino Ruiz not go all the way from Miramar all the way to Camino Del Sur. After all, there is a tiny portion in Park Village it’s called Camino Ruiz but it is dead end on both sides. If you can get to the 56 from the West side of Park Village easier, I would think it’ll increase the desirability of the area. Especially if you can get to Intuit easier. It would definitely be more convenient for those living off Carmel Mt. Road, like Christmas card lane area. I wouldn’t think there would be negative impact on pre-existing homes. All I can think of is positives impact (easier access to freeway).
Does it go through santee?
CoronitaParticipantI have a prediction folks.
You know the two big new apartment complexes being built in Carmel Valley right over Vista Sorrento Parkway?
I think they are going to be hurting for tenants…bigtime…
I’d give maybe 2 years before they decide to convert them to owner occupied attached homes….
http://www.apartmentguide.com/apartments/California/San-Diego/Ocean-Air/100020971/
$2400-2800/month for a 1bedroom.. Lol… Good luck with that one… That’s almost the same amount of my 15 year mortgage on a SFH in CarmelV.
CoronitaParticipantI hear Santee is only 15 minutes to the ocean….
CoronitaParticipantSo… I sort of went 2 steps above ghetto…
1. I bought paint from here:
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/?A=437&SubAffiliateID=Car%20paint_e
1 pint white base coat was like $80 bucks
1 pint clearcoat was $24 bucks.2. I decided not to get the heavy duty compressor and paint gun. Instead, I decided to give this a shot…
Wagner HVLP sprayer…. $50
The auto paint from the online store was already prediluted, which was good since the sprayer only works with really thin paint.
The results actually came out ok.. I wouldn’t do this on a nice car, and the finish isn’t as smooth as what you would get with a real paint gun and air compressor, but it’s “good enough”…
I’ll need to wait a few days for the clearcoat to dry and I’ll wet sand it..
[img_assist|nid=18961|title=pt|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=300|height=400]
Bumper stand courtesy of my kid’s wagon that is now speckled white…
Idiot as i am, I made a mistake of carrying the bumper when it was still wet, so there’s a wrinkle on the bottom and top of the bumper…
Oh well..
I might do the rear later.
In hindsight I probably should have paid someone to do it…Total cost ended up being $200, which is how much a bumper doctor person costs..
Well, at least I get to keep the paint gun for other projects….And learned how to paint…sort of…
Hmm…. there was another thread about hoarding……
CoronitaParticipant
I choose a NA Miata for $3000 and a down payment on something more profitable.
Honestly, I like fun cars. I couldn’t care less about HP — handling is what matters to me. If I want to go fast, I’ll do so on two wheels.
Different kind of car class.. Miatas are great for autocrosses, not so great for real track days unless you’re running boosted or unless you only race against other miatas.
CoronitaParticipant
One of the few American cars I would consider owning. You can either get this or a base Porsche with 300HP less. I choose this :-).
I want to know how this will do around the track….Basically, this is a replacement for not just the Z06 of last generation but the ZR-1 of the last generation… I would be curious how it’s performance around the track will be versus a GT3.
GT3 in the configuration I like is speced around $150k, though it’s a lighter car and one heck of a track dog….but that’s almost 2 Z06’s for the price of 1…. And it might not be a bad thing to have a spare in case you wrap run around a tree…
GWIW the options of a 911s will run the same price as an entire Stingray, which is pretty funny…
Hmmmm…
A super charged miata for auto cross.
An M3 for daily commute…
A Z06 for track days…My kid wouldn’t be going to college if it was up to me…
CoronitaParticipant

Generally speaking, in San Diego, the motivation to live near a freeway or some other less than desirable element is the opportunity to be in a certain school district. I give people credit for being willing to put up with high prices and road noise for the chance (and not the certainty) that their children will be surrounded by interesting classmates that motivate them to do their best. For example, a kid who just graduated from Canyon Crest Academy in CV won the Intel (formerly Westinghouse), Google and Siemens science competitions (complete with $250,000 in prizes). That school is packed full of kids doing amazing things – and I think a lot of parents would sacrifice their own happiness or comfort to expose their kids to that kind of influence.
Here’s an article from last year about the amazing young man from CCA you mentioned. We remember hearing about this great achievement from friends who have kids who attend this school.
CCA is by lottery…
CoronitaParticipantWhat I am curious though is would this “outrage” have been any different if, instead of being a white man,
the cop was
1. a woman
or
2. african american
or
3. hispanic
or
4. asianI think it’s stretching for some to be concluding that that Wilson is a racist, and yet Holder seems to be hell bent on bring up civil rights violation.
That I find very disturbing, again imho the entire double standard thing… -
