CoronitaParticipant

Can’t afford to own in Palo Alto?
No problem!!!! You can always rent…. Like this 2000sqft SFH…. It’s only…
$8000/month, complete with that totally awesome 1 car detached garage.

That house sold for $248k in 1985.I wonder how high will this go before it comes crashing down.
This house in RSF was sold for $630k in 1988, which is over 2x the price of the PA house. Today, the ratio is flipped.

It won’t stop until the tech stock options game stops….
tech crashed b4 and it’ll crash again. This time is not different.
I won’t disagree with that. It’s not a question of if…It’s a question of when and which ones.
If I had the money, I wouldn’t mind living in SF or Palo Alto. But I don’t have the money, so I have to settle for a stucco box in San Diego that is infested with lizards and has too many damn walls.
CoronitaParticipantI have a friend that insists on living in SF. Both he and his spouse are both doctors. 15 years later, he still says they can’t afford to own where they want to live….
CoronitaParticipantBut you know what. Even if palo alto just doesn’t have good enough lizards and walls for you… You can always go for the gold and get a nice “affordable” condo in Pacific Heights (SF)…..
It’s “only” $4.85 million for a 3/3 condo… Because obviously, the city has character!
Don’t forget though the schools suck in that area, so you’ll probably need to add another $22k/year to send each kids to private school too. And it will be a bitch to find parking.

CoronitaParticipant

That cupertino homes falls way short in comparison to…. Palo Alto…..
At least these aren’t tract homes and they have “character” though…… Lol….
$5.9mil 2900 sqft

For $200k less, you can get this house in La Jolla instead: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-150010567-1291_La_Jolla_Rancho_Rd_La_Jolla_CA_92037Or if you don’t care about ocean view, you can have this in RSF instead: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-150000817-5040_El_Mirlo_Rancho_Santa_Fe_CA_92067%5B/quote%5D
There’s a saying that goes that once you leave Silly Valley you can’t really afford to go back (unless you kept your home)….
Funny, because that’s what they say about San Diego as well :-).
Well, the hysterical thing about Silly Valley was when I was there, my doctor was complaining about how he felt he was just middle class there and underpaid relative to his patients.

CoronitaParticipantThanks AN, for reminding me after relocating from Silly Valley back to SD what a bargain things are down here!

CoronitaParticipantIs Cupertino also La Jolla adjunct, being only 15 hours to La Jolla?
CoronitaParticipant
LoL… $2.8M for 3400 sq-ft tract home in Cupertino: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20615-Rodrigues-Ave-Cupertino-CA-95014/19634856_zpid/
That’s actually a nice home. I think my cousin lives in that community. I think he bought it for $1million awhile ago.
CoronitaParticipant

Does those houses in Cupertino or Mountain View have walls and free of lizards? I don’t think that’s a fair comparison to CV…..
I think they come with Berkeley lizards and walls constructed by Stanford graduates :-D
What? No Ivy League lizards and walls not constructed by Ivy Leaguer?. Not acceptable… Sorry, I’ll pass.
CoronitaParticipantI think we should add homes from Vancouver,BC too…
CoronitaParticipantLol…Come on now, AN… Everyone knows that if you’re into the Carmel Valley schools, you aren’t going to be looking in Mountain View or Los Altos… You’re going to be looking in Cupertino… Bring your $2million cash for a 2600sqft McMansion……..
Because a 2600 sqft SFH will feel like a McMansion when $1million will only buy you a CONDO
BTW: 1800sqft home in Santa Clara now rents for about $4000/month….
