CoronitaParticipantFat, thanks for the insight, we're pretty much on the same page with the cars. I also like the A3, only complaint is it is a little small and I would like more power. The 335 may be the best turbo beast available, I need to test drive one to find out, maybe I'll love it. But I agree there are so many 3series cars out here in SD that it comes across as a commoners car. 45K is a lot of money to spend on a car that everyone already has. I want to see the 08 Evolution when it comes out, in the pictures it looks more attractive than the current model. What do you think about the Mazda Speed3? I've been meaning to test one of those.
I'm going to be a "jerk" and hijack this thread to respond to a hijacked thread (sorry).
OT Comment: I haven't drove the mazda speed 3. But, my friends have said it's interesting. I prefer the sedan of the mazda 3, but they only offer the mazda speed 3 in the hatch. Too bad they canned the mazda speed 6.Â
There isn't that much selection right now imho. Which is fine for me, because I'm still waiting. Hoping things line up right for an S5. I think I misposted before. I meant to say the TT and A3 2.0T only come in FWD, not the A5/S5/RS5. The TT in the AWD configuration will be a 3.2 version. The A5/SG/RS5 should be AWD (or have an AWD option), with RWD bias. Also, these pushed back the engine to achieve better weight balance. (Current A and S lines are very nose heavy)
There is one correction: There will be one twin turbo coming out soon. Skyline GT-R. But $80k for a Nissan might be absurd 🙂

On topic: CFC's rally really faded pretty quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.

CoronitaParticipantJust an FYI, there's nothing illegal about posting or discussing inside information unless you are an officer, director or other person deemed to be an "insider." Even then it might not be illegal, but rather unethical (and grounds for firing). The illegality is principally in trying to profit from the use of inside information. Not that I'm condoning the spread of inside information, to be clear. I'm just sayin'…
Uh, you sure about any insider financial information ? I'd double check your facts. Â

CoronitaParticipantIf these "rumors" are true…Well.. I doubt that would be an issue.
When, qualcomm sold the infrastructure to Ericcson, people got screwed. Some people sued, and QCom settled out of court. I think they didn't really know what to do back then.
When qualcomm sold the handset division to Kyocera, people went to kyocera stayed qualcomm employees(loaned to kyocera). They vested, and at the end of the vesting, they had the option of staying at kyocera or reapplying at qualcomm.
If indeed a spinoff was announced, I doubt they would screw the employees again. Spinoff usually means accelerated vesting and/or converstion from stock options to new spinned company.
However, didn't Qualcomm can spinning off QCT (aka it was called spinco?)
http://apps.shareholder.com/sec/viewerContent.aspx?companyid=QCOM&docid=1043058
Anyway, your friends husband have a much better chance of losing their options from
1)Having a worthless options as a result of the BRCM/NOK/QCOM lawsuits if the stock tanks before vesting.
2) Being fired to have told company sensitive information to a spouse who subsequently gossiped to a friend who subsequently told a spouse who subsequently posted to a board
Anyway, still trying to figure out how that real "worth" of those options would total around 5 million, if they're not vested yet. 4 years is their vesting schedule, and back in 2003, the stock was not that much less than it is now. And I know how much directors get.

CoronitaParticipantAudi *use* to have a bi turbo in the S4. No longer. Now it's a v8. Too many people complained about the maintanence.
All recent VW/Audis with a 2.0T (single turbo), which isn't bad and it's pretty tunable by several tuners.
BMW 335i is a bi-turbo. Reliability is still to be proven, because this is a first generation engine Drove the car, like it (near as fast as the outcoming e46 m3) Unfortunately, most people who get a 335 have no clue about the car itself, so I don't like the stigma. Plus bmw likes to nickel and dime you (they probably charge for the air you breathe inside the cabin). Also, I don't like how you can't do basic maintanence (you can't check the oil easily). Also, driving without a spare bothers me (3 series all use run-flats and don't come with spares.)
Other than that, I'm not aware of any other cars these days that are bi-turboed, just single turbo, though turbo lag really isn't an issue these days unless you run a modified larger turbo.
Other choices I personally like as a hoodlem car:
WRX STi (if you don't mind the way it looks)
Mitsubishi EVO (if you don't mind the way it looks)
If I had to get something right now, I'd probably get an Audi A3 or the 08 TT with the 2.0T. Not too pricy, and decent performance, plus very tunable by several VAG tuners. But, personally, I'm waiting for the A5/S5/RS5, which will be about the right time since my cars run on a 10year lifecycle. Only issue is I believe both are only available FWD, not AWD (could be wrong though).

CoronitaParticipantAlex_angel,
With all due respect. In San Diego, land is plenty. This isn't the bay area. Move a few miles inland, off of 56, there's plenty of land.Â
