I hope you’re right. I don’t know what the rules are, but, if possible, the republicans would do well to make the switch just days (or less) before the election. This would deprive the Clinton machine the time necessary to sufficiently spread the word about the vile positions that Pence holds.

It’s a salvage operation at this point for the GOP, imho. At this point, I think they are preparing to save as many House and Senate seats as possible.

There’s no easy way to dance around this issue, and there’s probably more bombshells that tucked away to be used 3 weeks or 2 weeks before the election. The problem is that Trump has become such an unlikeable character that at this point, he’s probably right, almost everyone is out to get him. It’s not democrats, or liberals. It’s anyone that is just appalled at his sack of shit opinions.

The irony is, if at all, Trump has probably created more unity than any other candidate we’ve had in recent times, across party lines and across independents
simply because it seem like enough people across parties don’t want to see him win. For many reasons.And there are many of them.

What’s more surprising it took for this view on women for people to be so shocked and disgusted about Trump. What about all the anti-latino, anti-muslim, anti-foreign rhetoric? Well, I guess finally there’s something that threw the independents and other americans the other way, when previously they didn’t think his racism “wasn’t a big enough deal”.

GOP is in big trouble on the down ticket. To be frank, I feared this would happen. Like I said, I was hoping for a balanced government, I don’t think we will get it for the next 4 years at this point. I can’t say the GOP didn’t deserve this. No one should have backed Trump to begin with. oh well.

If you truly care about the heath of our state and local economies, they you should be willing to take the first step yourself. We can discuss the costs of those who’ve earned their benefits AFTER those who have not earned their tax subsidies refuse/refund this money first. Go ahead…prove to everyone how much you care about the financial health of our governmental agencies by paying back your unearned subsidy first (thousands of dollars per year). After you’ve done that, then you can come back and talk to us about reducing the compensation that other people have actually worked for and earned.

Yes, I recognize there is a longer term problem. But it’s not on my radar of important things that I care about. I was dragged into this only because on one thread I brought up CA municipal bonds, and only because on that thread someone asked about a vanguard fund performance, which BTW YTD, again wasn’t bad at all. I might end up selling some in December if the Fed raises rates anyway, and if there are better things out there. And if I do, it will take exactly 1 day for the transaction to complete, which again, is contrary to your belief that a crisis will financially impact me holding this tiny percentage in my portfolio.

Why you keep bringing me into this pension issue is beyond me. Talk and argue with CAR please. CAR is very opinionated on public pensions and the public sector.
And you will get much more response in any fights you try to pick over public pensions. I don’t care about this topic. If you want to talk about peak oil, and what a joke it is, let me know. 🙂

I disagree. For the last year, we have seen what prominent Republicans leaders can live with. They can live with his racist views of Mexican immigrants, Muslims, and African Americans. And somehow suddenly they are all outrage by the grab me by the P**** statement? Why do these elected Republicans who kowtow to Trump deserve to hold on to their offices? If they cannot even stand against Trump, somehow we shall trust them to do the right things when they are re-elected again?[/quote]
