You know I knew someone was going to say that. We're not too far from that… We couldn't find a cover that would fit that sectional, so my wife talked to my mother in law in china, and was getting a custom cloth-based cover getting made. It was going to be delivered to us next month. Meanwhile, we had a couple of thick bedsheets that we laid on top of the seating surface in the meantime. Unfortunately, my daughter figured out how to pull them out and apparently she lifted the sheets up, doodled for a few minutes and then covered her artwork after she was done.

 

Note to others, if you're planning to have a kid and also doing home improvements: light colored furniture + light colored berber carpet + highly chippable wood floors + infant = 1 big expensive mess that needs to be replaced in a couple of years

One point to clarify. The cushion portion   isn't detachable. It's one of those contemporary style sofas that look like it's a cushion, but it's really attached to the rest of the sofa and cannot be removed without  disassembling the entire fabric from the sofa section.

Something alone the line of this, though not exactly.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far. This is one more issue i can add onto the my growing list for 2008. Frankly I'm more peeved at my nanny that was suppose watching my daughter as my wife is away on business..Not because of the sofa was destroyed, but because there shouldn't have been any reason why my daughter would have been left alone for that long to doodle that much. The damaged couch is replaceable in worst case, my kids safety is not. I guess worst case, I can just have my daughter doodle on the rest of the sectionals and make the sofa look REALLY contemporary.
