Clarification – she recommends moving 5% of your portfolio into cash. From the article:
“In Schwab parlance, “slightly” means five percentage points of your total portfolio value. So we are not recommending clients completely replace their stocks with cash, just that they make a minor adjustment.”
ChrispyParticipantThat was fast… the site is up again! Yes – no more extra work for the boss from me!
ChrispyParticipantI don’t know, but all of a sudden I find myself with scads of time to get work done.
I miss the Housing Bubble Blog!! I just sent Ben an email on behalf of all Piggingtonians to find out what happened. Will report when I hear.

Moet and Chandon – Moet is Dutch, Chandon is French. You do pronounce the “t” in MOet but not the “N” in Chandon. You can tell Moet is a Dutch word because of the funny little double dots on top of the “e.”
Ah, the importance of being ernst.
ChrispyParticipantInteresting how this is “breaking news” according to the UT yet it happened four days ago.
Why can’t a city of this size have a respectable newspaper?
ChrispyParticipantStoreroom sounds so sinister… what is the technical definition of a bedroom vs. an office or den? I understand a bedroom needs a closet. Is that it?
A bedroom needs two exits (example: one door, one window) – does a den have the same requirements?
ChrispyParticipantAnother quote from the flyer:
“Live upstairs and rent four bedrooms downstairs to grad students…”
Undergrads need not apply! I can think of a few things worse than living with college kids under your feet, but not many.
ChrispyParticipantPS – The auction house is DumpingHomes.com. Gives a whole new meaning to going to the dump!

The M means machine, the N means number, so what they are really saying is automatic teller machine machine, and personal identification number number.

That said, healthfully is used more often, except for when you’re eating pork rinds.
How about “I could care less” when it should be “I couldn’t care less”?
Irregardless is not a word – because the “ir” at the beginning and the “less” at the end are both negatives. Regardless is what should be used, or irrespective, or “forget about that part.”

September 18, 2006 at 5:21 PM in reply to: I cant take it anymore! It’s a TRACT house not a TRACK house #35742ChrispyParticipantAs James Brown would say…
I feel good!
I also stand corrected about bad/badly.
Here’s another…. “my offer was excepted.”
Do you mean that your offer was taken? In that case, your offer was accepted. Otherwise, your offer was the exception — other offers were accepted, but yours was not.
Not a bad thing in today’s RE market.
September 18, 2006 at 3:27 PM in reply to: I cant take it anymore! It’s a TRACT house not a TRACK house #35715ChrispyParticipantAnother error creeping in is “I try to eat healthy.” It should actually be, “I try to eat healthily.” Healthy is not an adverb.
On the same TRACK (as opposed to tract), people are starting to leave the “ly” off of adverbs. For example, a friend of mine said, “I ride my bike regular.” At first I thought she was talking about regular gas and got her transportation modes mixed up…
“I feel bad about that” should be, “I feel badly about that.”
ChrispyParticipantBuy stuff at farmer’s markets – they are scattered throughout San Diego. Not only do you get healthier food, but you support the local economy AND it’s a good way to spend time with family and friends.
