ParticipantAt this stage in our lives, a job is still necessary whether the house is paid for or not! Therefore if the job is in Carlsbad, the house is in Carlsbad. No house is worth a daily commute. (Ok, if the job was somewhere awful then I guess a little commute would be necessary.) Long story short, I’d still choose Carlsbad.

ParticipantHow long are you planning on staying in the condo? If it’s several years and you’re truly not going to use the dishwasher EVER, I’d just install the hook-ups (aren’t they already there?). When/if you put it on the market, buy a decent dishwasher.
If you are going to use the dishwasher sometimes (even people I know who don’t use theirs typically use it sometimes like after a party) then just put in a decent dishwasher and use it for storage most of the time. My grandmother used to use hers as a pantry. Also, I’ve thought it would be smart if you hand wash your dishes to use the dishwasher as a drying rack….very tidy and out of the way!

ParticipantThe studies they have done are on proximity to freeway only. Height may have some impact but that’s only my guess and who knows exactly how much. Do you have kids?
