ParticipantI remember the first time I had BV George Latour Private Reserve Cab. A friend had ordered a bottle at Peohes in Coronado. Halfway through the glass, it occurred to me that it was the best wine I had ever tasted. Of course vintage matters, and my mind has lost the details, but one may buy a quantity of this stuff for less than the prices you list, and allow them to come of age.
As always, TG has brought his erudite bon vivant best. Then Barnaby bats cleanup. Good stuff.
Still, am I the only one who owns a copy of Clifton Fadiman’s Joy of Wine? It’s one of those large awkward books that few read, and fewer want to keep around, and can usually be bought for a song. His forward is priceless for any wino, for he tells of his journey, which is our journey. Fadiman was famous for being a thinking man, when our culture once appreciated such a thing. He observed that putting the wine cup to one’s lips is drinking from the river of the history of man. He also said, that cheese is milk’s leap toward immortality. I’m with Fadiman.

ParticipantConsidering that democrats derive from the lower mental categories, and that we’re talking about SC here, which is obviously at the extreme low end of the mental acuity curve, it makes perfect sense.
You know what they say about SC… too small for a state, too big for an insane asylum.
