I need a bigger mortgage
That’s incredibly easy. Buy this:

carlsbadworkerParticipantWith Prop 13, isn’t that depending on when you bought your house v.s. when your neighbors bought their houses?
carlsbadworkerParticipantI don’t know the answer to many of your questions but Carlsbad is pretty good city in every front.
carlsbadworkerParticipant

But more importantly, I voted no for almost every single proposition. Especially Prop 16…..
I did the same thing. Actually I’ve done so the last few elections…no, no, no, no, no…
Usually one or two yeses but almost all no.
And I voted no on 16 also.
My default response is always no too.
carlsbadworkerParticipant
Most of the props are going my way
except
14 Medical Bonds (I voted no)
15 Prop Tax Chg (I voted yes)
22 Uber (I voted no)
24 Consumer Privacy (I voted no)And to tell you the truth, I didn’t care about any of those all that much so I’m fine with it.
14 and 15 results are not final yet.
carlsbadworkerParticipant
I got blotto after the 2016 election I was so upset.
Somehow I feel I’ll do the same after this one – I’ll be either hyper happy or hyper upset.
The next 48 hours – or more – are going to be very very stressful.
Vote, at the end of the day, is the tyranny of the majority. Therefore, it would be able to do almost nothing in addressing the internal conflicts of this nation.
carlsbadworkerParticipantHow do we know that rate won’t go up?

Also, +1 for HLS.
carlsbadworkerParticipantJust want to point out that from the bright side, the group of people who don’t wear the mask today are going to be the same group of people who will refuse to get vaccinated when the COVID vaccine comes out. So if you want to pick up a time for them to get immunity, now is most likely the best time.
carlsbadworkerParticipant
I had a discussion with a realtor over real estate values. He said that the data doesn’t show any decline, in fact there is less inventory because people are holding off listing. I responded “Ha! Current data is no prediction of the future.” But, you know, realtors always say it’s a good time to buy.
What concerns me about the market right now is that rents are dropping much faster than house price. Normally, at Spring time, rental will go up…but landlords have less options if they have a vacant property (homeowners are prevented from being evicted without paying mortgage).
February 27, 2020 at 4:27 PM in reply to: interest rates in the USA v other advanced economies #814976carlsbadworkerParticipant
Wow, 2.86 when i posted this, and 1.28 right now.
South Korea: 1.42USA is still pretty high. Negative rate, here we come!
carlsbadworkerParticipantWhat’s your prediction for 2020?
carlsbadworkerParticipant
The economy is doing well but there are clouds on the horizon. Recession fears receded last year but are on the upswing again.
I would think recession fear is a terrible indicator to watch for a real recession.
When recession fear drops, market will be irrational exuberance and then it will hit everyone’s head that we can never meet this unrealistic expectations.
By the way, Jeremy Grantham predicted years ago that this bull market will end with a melt up phase that kills all the rational bears, who have the right thesis but wrong timing.
carlsbadworkerParticipant
I’m going to give t-mobile a try when available in my area.
I hate cox because they have 1TB data cap. Spectrum does not. ATT Uverse is slow.
T-mobile and satellite will have way smaller cap compared to Cox.
