It is looking to be an another interesting week on Wall Street.
I wonder which surprises we’ll see from Hedge funds, lenders, homebuilders and others. Does anybody know how many employees Accredited Home Lenders (LEND) has in San Diego? This one is another strong candidate for bankruptcy and liquidation. What are the odds that the acquisition actually going thru given their significant stock collapse?

BubblesitterParticipantBig down day on Wall Street
The LBO craze is over, the long bull run is gasping, and credit is crunching.
Any Bulls still out there?

BubblesitterParticipantWhat was the Carlsbad planning commission thinking?
Intensity: There IS a lot of aircraft ACTIVITY over this area today and it will increase. Palomar Airport is a VERY BUSY GA airport. In 1999 it had a peak of 292,000 operations–the busiest single runway airport in the nation. The airport is one of the busiest in the nation. Contributing factors in 1999 were 4 flight schools and increasing commercial aviation. The airport now has 5 flight schools, 2 flying clubs and 2 regularly scheduled airline services (FAA Part 121). In addition, Palomar is quickly becoming a major jet center for North County. Many of the factors that created peak airport demand are again in place and more… and it would not be unreasonable to expect air traffic to increase beyond the 1999 levels. There are and will be more aircraft every year.

BubblesitterParticipantThe Carlsbad planning commission seems be either incompetent or lacking foresight or both. The impact of over-development has already reduced quality of life for Carlsbad residents.
Another good example is Bressi Ranch. This was built in the flight path of one of the busiest small airports in the country!
Noise pollution complaints are now starting to push for cutting back of flight at Palomar airport. Any buyer into Bressi ranch in NE Carlsbad should be fully aware of the considerable issues with aircraft noise pollution.
This planning screw-up was larger than any Sunroad building height issue. Click on the Bressi ranch link.

BubblesitterParticipantHey Carlsbadliving,
Have you ever heard of a “high-end” Walmart? I’m willing to bet this thing is gonna end up as an eyesore resulting in more traffic congestion. Big box retailers ALWAYS result in much higher congestion than smaller zoned retail. I’ve heard of other big box retailers using techniques like this before. Walmart is especially adept at it. Once they have zoning approval, this “high-end” Walmart will end up with a slightly nicer facade. It will be identical every other Walmart in every other way!!Carlsbad is becoming way overdeveloped and looking more and more like Oceanside. No offense to you Oceanside residents. Aren’t you concerned about your “Carlsbad living” lifestyle. If you are a homeowner, aren’t you concerned about your property value? I believe many would be less inclined to purchase property in NE Carlsbad. At what point would you take a stand if you saw your hometown going down a sh*t hole.

BubblesitterParticipanta little early morning venting…..
I would like to thank all you folks who now in your small little way helped plung the world into financial chaos and will probably put the US into a recession.
A salute to the real men/women of genius.
1. The 20-something BMW-owning mortgage brokers working in the boilerroom of New Century Mortgage, and countless other subprime outfits.
2. The ratings agencies..S&P, Moody’s, Fitch, etc. Who collected huge fees while looking the other way and mis-rating mortgage and derivative securities.
3. Appraisers who buckled under pressure to “hit” the number.
4. Dishonest homeowners who fudged their income, job status, etc. “Hey everybody is doing it!”The list is too long…..I can go on with 10 more..Real estate agents, Govt and failure of regulation, etc…
Venting done!

BubblesitterParticipantBubblesitter has officially declared July 18 as the peak of of this cyclical Bull market.
Stay tuned when Bubblesitter makes a similar announcement identifying the bottom of the real estate market. Be patient, it will be a few years.
