Participant

eavesdropper – Thank you for so eloquently stating things!
At your service, jp. Wish that eloquence would work on my husband. Baby wants new hardwood on the second floor…..
Do you make housecalls for hardwood-flooring installation classes, eaves?? Looking for about 450 – 600 sf of 1.5″ red oak slats. I’ll do all the mat’ls ordering and furniture moving. I just live about ten mins from Coronado (where you and your spouse can spend your eves) and have two sets of knee pads (one for each of us) :=!
I have a nice guest room which doesn’t need flooring. Think about it :=]

Participant
. . . BTW, I’m one of the lucky ones: I was my husband’s high school crush, one upon which he never acted (probably because he knew I’d deck him…) At any rate, we met again many years later. We’ve been together 12 years now, and (without going into graphic detail) it’s still great! He says that marrying the girl that you fantasized about from the time you were 15 is a total aphrodisiac. All I know is that I can be 15 pounds overweight, have 1 inch of gray roots in my hair, puffy eyes from pulling an all-nighter, and no makeup, and all he’s seeing is the girl I was back in the 70s. It’s pretty cool.
Eaves, floors aside, your story is inspiring … and more common than most folks would believe, esp among “boomers” :=D

Participant
not to poke the bear(ishgurl) too much, but don’t you think you would be happier in N. California? All you outings seem to be up here.
jstoesz, only my “in-state outings” are in NoCal. My summer road trips are often in triple-digit heat in southwest states. However, this year I spent a week of my road trip touring the Colo rockies where “boomers,” mostly couples, are out en masse (many on motorcycles) in search of summer homes and retirement properties at (hopefully) the best prices they’ll ever see again in their lifetimes. Some were headed to NV, AZ and FL to view/purchase rental-property investments to fund their retirements. I met and spoke to them from Boulder/Nederland to Estes Park to Aspen to Beaver Creek to Telluride and many points in between.
The snow is still melting into hundreds of waterfalls causing the rivers to bulge and spread!!!
I saw many WOMEN OVER AGE 55 there in awesome shape mountain biking 40-100 mi per day consistently on 6-9% grade in over 10K feet in altitude! Of course there are rest stops for bikers, some with caves for shade :=)
I’m originally from NoCal and several cities/towns there are on my “short list” for retirement locales :=]
Wow, pri_dk, I didn’t realize there were so many wineries in or near Temecula! It looks like the Van Roekel and Callaway vineyards grow (or bottle) my kind of grape! I’ll have to put a day trip up there on my schedule for this fall!
