barnaby33ParticipantI tend to think of this as a bifurcated recovery. Oddly enough Paramount, IT seems to be doing quite well so I’m not sure what your fear is, employment wise.
As to a recovery, the higher you were on the socio-economic ladder, the more recovery there has been. For those at the bottom it’s pretty much only gotten worse. Where you draw the break-even line is a good question though and I’d draw it at me!
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantSure, go for it.
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantIs that a life?
Boy there is a loaded question. Do most people ever really live? They shuffle through their years plodding from one experience to the next, never really questioning what it is they’re doing. It’s comfortable, I suppose. It’s not a life well lived.
This thread and the subtext of being a jealous frustrated (formerly bitter) renter prove that nobody seems to learn much of anything. Not only is there nothing wrong with renting, in times of uncertainty and these most certainly are, flexibility is key. Why is any young couple struggling to buy a home? Oh wait, first paragraph.
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantThere it’s a combo of both but mostly thermals. We launch a couple of miles away at the top of Blossom Valley and fly over to El Cap if we get high enough.
As to paragliding it really came into its own around the mid 90’s. I started in 98. I wouldn’t say it’s any more or less safe, just different.
JoshOne more, of a more tropical nature.
barnaby33ParticipantSurfing, of a different kind: http://youtu.be/OkMCTKeruy0
Josh
barnaby33Participantdeleted.
barnaby33Participant“Who’s left,” has naturally morphed into what’s happened. Where is Bugs with the appraisal angle when you need him?
I don’t believe we are in a bubble now either. I believe horrible monetary policy, deliberate collusion on the part of the banks and govt to force down inventory and a rapidly evolving pear shaped economy explain what’s happening without anything irrational. As noted investors have to choose between overpriced stocks, overpriced bonds, or slightly overpriced RE.
On that note though, does anyone have a strong opinion about when interest rates will rise, because that is the driver of all of this. Or rather when will the Fed stop fighting deflation? Sorry had to say it!
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantSo is there a part of San Diego where conditions are favorable to buying?
Josh
barnaby33ParticipantThis has happened multiple times. Sometimes for the better. Anyone want Powayseller back? Lots of people came and went, some stayed.
I think all the other angles have been covered and I’d just say, yeah, what afx said.
Oh and in case I forgot to come out of the closet, I bought a townhouse/condo in Mission Valley.
Josh
barnaby33Participant9. You are blissfully unaware of how wealthy you are because you’ve never spent time where people have truly lost hope. Your passport, assuming you have one has no stamps and you have no perspective.
barnaby33ParticipantWho resurrects these things?
