Participant
I think, maybe hope or guess, that solar is now on the right track with cost benefit though. I think it’s worth doing taking the reasonable assumption that electrical charges (no pun intended) are going to go up.
With all the money being put in to R&D to find a better greener energy source, solar might turn out to be a waste of money in the near future. Especially if Bloom Energy and the like get down to the residential level. Bloom Energy already have a few big names as customers (Google, Ebay, FedEx, Walmart). They say they’re saving much more with it than solar and its footprint is much smaller too.July 30, 2011 at 3:51 PM in reply to: Solar Energy, what is the actual cost and how long will it take to recoupe cost #713890an
ParticipantAfter seeing 60 minutes did a blurb on Bloom energy, http://www.bloomenergy.com/, I think this is more promising that solar. I’m looking forward to get one of these in my house in the near future. The CEO said he estimate that it’ll cost ~$3k/household.

ParticipantYou’re right, public school teachers does get paid a lot more than private school teachers:
http://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=55
yet, private school class size is smaller and private school on average tend to perform better than public school. With the advantage economy of scale for public school, we should be able to afford to pay more for public school and still spend the same per student and have similar class size. Yet, we’re not.
