Participant

Ah fvck. First no AC in my CV home, while your MM home has AC. And now My SUV has no leather but pleather, while your SUV has real leather…
Damn, I’m jealous and depressed. I can’t keep up with the Jones in Mira Mesa…..Time to tap my Heloc, otherwise I’m going to have self esteem issues…..
You’re the one with the ultimate driving machine. Al I got is a wanna be imitation. You don’t need AC, you don’t live in an area where it’s unbearably hot mid day. You get those ocean breezes I read about.an
Participant
Do you have real leather in your SUV too?
I don’t have an ultimate driving machine, so leather is standard.an
Participant
Wait,, whoa… You have air conditioning?? Really?? AN, do you have AC too???? Shit… Now I feel really bad. If it gets so hot, I need to go sleep in my SUV and turn on the AC….
Next thing the two of you folks are going to tell me that you folks have a backyard and and pitch a tent in back if you wanted to.., Can you do that?
OK, you win flu. I do have AC. I like to be super comfortable inside my house, so I don’t want it to be hotter than 73 degrees and colder than 70 degrees. The hottest days over the last 3 years, it gotten to about 78 inside the house and that’s just way too hot for me.Also, yes, I can pitch a tent in the back yard. For that matter, I can pitch a tent in my front yard if I wanted to :-P.

ParticipantI feel a lot better now. At least I’m not alone living in a shitty TRACT stucco box.

Participant
The average CalPERS pension benefit is $2,332 per month. The average benefit for those who retired in the most recent fiscal year that ended June 30, 2011 is $3,065 per month.
That’s pretty sweet, consider average SS benefits this year is $1,230. With that pension, with the difference between CalPERS pension and SS of $22k/year, it’s like having ~$800k NPV calculated 401k by 55 years of age assuming 30 years of retirement years. How likely do you think someone making average American wage of $39k/year today have a 401k nest egg of ~$800k?an
ParticipantFrom the article:
“• Carmel Valley will be hit hard with this second wave of foreclosure. Why? Because many homes in Carmel Valley, purchased during the 2000-2008 housing construction boom, when long lines formed to buy the properties, were purchased with zero down, or a small amount down, so there is very little equity in the property. Carmel Valley has a median income of $90,000 and while higher-end families have been able to withstand the initial housing meltdown, things are starting to change.”
Hit hard? seems like the opposite is currently happening.an
Participant
Beat this…..
The sound proofing is horrible. The master’s bedroom is right above the kitchen, and if have a tv on upstairs at a normal volume, you can hear something downstairs..Well, at least that’s what I said when asked :(
You’re not special, my house does that too. Which is why I have no need for a baby monitor. I can hear it even with the TV on.Beat this…
Because of the high ceiling in the living room, any noise occur in the living room can be heard from anywhere up stairs.an
Participant
I have a dumb question…
Is there an easy why to figure out that for all the sold homes in MM, how many of them are owner occupied, versus investor owned. I one can check the tax records for homeowner’s exemption or one can check the type of loan on the property (assuming there is one)…
But is there an easier way to do it. I’m wondering if there is a prevalent trend. Are more people buying it as an investment, as owner occupied ,or is it abou evenly split?
For SFR, my guess would be mainly if not all primary resident. SFR in MM doesn’t cash flow very well. Whoever buy them as rental must be a noob, cuz the numbers just doesn’t work out well. Condo on the other hand, my guess is mostly rentals.an
Participant
Dallas is actually nice. (Just hot….Texas that is…)…
I think most people would end up going to Santee.. To be closer to the ocean…
Time to move and buy a house in Sky Ranch…

Participant
No it doesn’t. I have too many walls. In fact it’s annoying. I have a garage door that opens inward to the same place that my front door opens to.. It’s just the way the layout is… Totally stupid, because someone always leaves the frontdoor open (we have screen security door always locked), and then coming in from the garage… Bam!
I’m thinking about installing a revolving door on both door openings to make my life easier…….
OK, but at least you don’t have those dated stair railing or dated 8′ ceiling or dated popcorn ceiling. Also, your house is not hot in the middle of the day.an
Participant

3. If you predict a big doom and gloom like the major employers changing in SD…At that point…Mira Mesa is the last place you have to worry about…Or for that matter coastal areas….Everyone in SD gets hit..So in that scenario (which is unlikely), it’s suck for everyone….Including your hood.
I would say, if said large company MM goes belly up or move, CV would probably get hit harder than MM. So, you should watch house :-D
No, we at least have good public schools… HA HA HA…
Not if all the smart people leave for Dallas like BG predicted. 😛an
Participant
No, my home is not just any shitty TRACT house…
It’s a shitty TRACT “stucco-box” house that sits on previously owned SDGE land, that is in the flight path of Miramar Marines….
…Dude, if you’re trying to make me feel better. Keep trying..
At least your house is not a shitty TRACT “stucco-box” built in the 80s with too few walls. Damn though open floor plans. Wish my house have more walls to make all the room feel smaller.Does that make you feel better yet?

Participant
My CV home is a piece of shit… But it’s an expensive piece of shit…And there are still people who would pay good dollar for that piece of shit… So who the fvck cares of homes in Mira Mesa is a piece of shit or not…..
Don’t forget, your house is also one of those shitty TRACT house. -
