One other potential risk of using Redfin to tour houses and not buy them … “procuring cause.”
They know who toured the house, and they’ll know who bought the house. They have computers … lots of them. They have lawyers. It doesn’t take much skill to match up names. If times get tough I’m sure they’ll be tempted to match up the “John Doe” who toured 123 Main St. and the “John Doe” who bought it through another agent. That is, if they’re not doing it already.
I’m not saying you should buy a house just to make your agent rich and happy … but if you try to be too clever, you expose both yourself and your agent to legal risks.

ParticipantI was told that an unlawful detainer complaint could name “Does 1-10” which would take care of unknown occupants. (I’d imagine this wouldn’t work if there were more than 10 unknown occupants sleeping in the living room, which would’ve been the case for one of my erstwhile neighbors.)
