ParticipantSorry to thread jack, but can anyone recommend a good way to practice some soldering 101? I’ve never soldered before, but I got a Thing-a-ma kit for my birthday and I’d like to practice on something cheap before I jump in and ruin my new toy. I’m guessing I can go into Radio Shack and get a basic blank board and some parts and just solder away until I get confident enough.. true or false?

ParticipantAn interesting analogy: read up on the history of the cola industry. Pepsi was the best thing to ever happen to Coke, and vice versa. You’ve got 3rd party colas like RC, Shasta, Tab, and store-brand, but will they ever pull enough Coke or Pepsi drinkers to make a dent?
