Participantone reason for the disconnect comes to mind; cost of living wage increases. if inflation is underreported, cost of living raises can also be under sized.
edit: as well as ss benefits and other “entitlements”.

I don’t think that is a reason as much as a sympton along with many others. The reason would be to make people think things are not as bad as they are. The why would be population control.
