Whole Foods Saturation

I try to buy healthy food…organic when possible and not too much more. I don’t shop at Whole Paycheck because it’s too expensive and often doesn’t have what I want.

I shop at Henry’s, I shop at Costco (which carries a surprising amount of organic stuff), I shop at Traders, I hit the farmers market in La Jolla on Sundays, I even shop at OB People’s… which is walking the walk a lot more than Whole Foods… but hard to get to if you live in the north county.

Bristal Farms is just as bad as Whole Foods… too expensive.

I’m not surprised there are disgruntled employees. It’s a BIG corporation.

UCGal, you should check out Zions Market in Kearny Mesa. I buy produce there. It’s a Korean market and they own a farm in Escondido so a lot of their stuff is local.

I like ethnic markets because they are interesting and you can find different spices and flavors. The prices are very attractive.

You’re absolutely right, Brian. Worked so well for Nabisco, Kellogg’s, and Kraft, I guess Whole Foods figured “Why not?”

But, I confess, I get a WF craving now and then. Don’t have a lot of time to cook (in fact, none), so I do a lot of take-away. And sometimes I just burn out on the fried chicken and cheesesteaks. I don’t feel any more noble doing WF. I just want something a little different, where I won’t feel my arteries crackling as I consume it…..
