ParticipantI agree it’s a great age and I also agree that boogie boarding will be the thing. My niece loved that when she was 12.
Watch out for sting rays, tell him to shuffle his feet in the water. We have tons of the little buggers, I was stung, it sucks (putting it very, very mildly). Snorkeling is great too, you can get the whole ensemble (snorkel, mask, fins) for $30 in a bundle at Sport Chalet.

ParticipantI took my 14 yr old nephew to the Star Trek exhibit at the Air & Space Museum. It was kind of pricy $24/person for that and the regular museam but he liked it.
I would also recommend the Midway and sub, but I am a Navy veteran so of course I would say that. Still, he thought that was way cool.
