I am not saying you’er wrong I am just trying to figure out what the trigger would be (for next recession).
Low Oil prices? (I think this is more just the Saudis dumping oil than anything else).
Consumers? (I was out shopping yesterday and the carts were five deep at all the check-out stands and all the stands were open) (out to eat same thing, standing room only).
I am just not seeing the trigger this time.
This is what I really don’t get from the claims from ‘experts’ on tv:
Oil Prices are high : bad for economy and consumers. Hence markets are tanking
Oil Prices are low : bad for economy and consumers. Hence markets are tankingSo which one is it? Is there a certain sweet spot where oil prices are good for the economy?
January 18, 2016 at 8:48 AM #793353moneymakerParticipantOil prices high is bad for the consumer. Oil prices low is bad for the producers. If too many producers go out of business it ends up being bad for the consumers. Hijack-My prediction for Chargers-They will be bought from Spanos and will stay in San Diego.
January 19, 2016 at 11:15 PM #793381CoronitaParticipantI think tomorrow, I will move some money currently in cash in my 401k and roth 401k back into index funds. Futures are off -260+ pts….lol….
January 20, 2016 at 5:58 AM #793382moneymakerParticipantGood idea flu, as usual I was early getting back in, might explain why I don’t play any musical instruments, I have horrible timing. OK new Charger prediction, they will go to LA, realize in 20 years they made a mistake ,then come back to San Diego.
I bought raffle tickets for a house I can’t afford the taxes on, hopefully I will not win the house (maybe just a car, since my newest one is 10 years old). I think their vacation packages are wrong, the Bali vacation for 10 should be valued at $25,000 not $5,000 and the Rio de Janeiro should be $5,000 not $25,000January 20, 2016 at 6:52 AM #793383The-ShovelerParticipantYea I am not seeing it either (the big crash), maybe I am wrong.
Not that I am a fan of Oil, but it gets below 20 I think I will go long Oil a little.

Maybe, but I counter your prediction with basically the opposite.
The Chargers are unable to agree with Kroenke on terms to share a stadium and return to San Diego with their tail between their legs. Faulconer continues his embarassingly lack of negotiation skills and gives Spanos a brand new stadium paid overwhelmingly with tax payer dollars. After only a couple of years in the new stadium, which is often half empty due to incredibly high ticket prices, Spanos manages to move the Charges to Carson and leave San Diego with a new but unused stadium making the whole deal worse than the infamous ticket guarantee.

I planned on doing exactly the same today, but got cold feet. Maybe tomorrow.January 29, 2016 at 1:30 PM #793710The-ShovelerParticipantToday’s action looking really solid after BOJ move, very good close.
I guess we will see.
January 29, 2016 at 1:37 PM #793711spdrunParticipantFortunately, still nicely down for the month — tends to portend a weak year. Apparently, every down January has been followed by flat or down market over rest of year. Here’s to it!
I did buy some ROL a few days ago. Parent company of Orkin Pest Control, should be able to make a few shekels off the Zika scare even if markets go down.
March 10, 2016 at 6:08 AM #795519moneymakerParticipantBump
March 10, 2016 at 7:33 AM #795524spdrunParticipantJust dumped ROL after making about 12% on it.
