We all know about the irresponsible loan practices that have led up the present crisis. But perhaps like some of you I’m a bit fuzzy when it actually comes to understanding how mortgage-backed securities are packaged and marketed and how this process extends the risks in the original products to a host of other actors. I pass on an article that details the life of a single security named “GSAMP Trust 2006-S3”.
