I tell you what, many of my really red friends are starting to come unglued. The stuff they post is unreal.

They are very very scared right now, not only about the future but about Trump losing this fall.

We’ll pull out of this and everyone needs to take a chill pill..but we really do need a solid plan for getting back on our feet. The sooner we can all agree on milestones for opening things back up, the sooner the pain will end.

I don’t think capitalism has failed but it sure took a really solid hit. Now we’re waiting to see how many compartments have flooded.

I don’t think we will pull out of his. We will become a divided country like Brazil and Argentina eventually. It’s fine and wonderful if you have money.

New unemployment claims in Europe are lower than here.

China slowed down the privatization of state owned enterprises because of coming automation and AI. They are using state capitalism

80% of Singapore’s residents live in public housing. The government can easily step in prevent homelessness

We were never really true capitalists to begin with. Our system is taking a hit because we have the most incompetent people ever running our federal gov. Well
actually they are good at one thing -they have a preternatural talent for getting people to act on their worst impulses.

I had this conversation with a friend a few days ago.
The myth is the we have manifest destiny and the most perfect constitution that allow us to overcome anything and always be #1.

For example, the states are laboratories of governance thus always providing us the optimal federal government.

With regard to Covid, if we compare the USA to other countries, we can clearly see that it comes down to competent management. God didn’t somehow bless us with the best government.

I have been in a fair amount of it, The USA is not perfect, but it is much better than anywhere else I have been.

They are efficient however but very corrupt.

A year working in europe. That’s all.

But how would one know, say, the ins and outside of the justice syste. Just travelling.

A better rough estimate probably comes from national happiness indexes. We suck. If a system fails to make society happy, it’s not necessarily bad….but it could be a bad sign that ones system isnt great.

They are so far as superior to any shoe made in America. We cannot make a decent barefoot shoe?

They really are good. Expensive, but the price includes shipping. I have no idea what those brilliant poles are doing, but I gave never ever had a sole last so well. I instantly wear down the outer edges of all shoes.. except tadeevos. They seem to have some supernatural rubber that does not wear for thousands o f miles.

Id love to buy american. .but there is nothing remotely comparable to tadeevo for quality and style.

Softstar up in Oregon? Maybe, but the soles wear. They’re just vibram.

Do you think that China could have so quickly uplifted 400 millions people into middle and upper income by following the example of India and the Philippines?

We have to fear for our #1 status if China follows the example of Singapore and creates a population of super educated, competitive citizens building a tech society.

But if you believe in manifest destiny and the inherent superiority of our Constitution, then just sit back and relax. Francis Fukuyama posited that American capitalism is the “end of history”, so no worries…

BTW, if we incorporate all the Americas into an America, then it don’t look much different from China.
