Think maybe not having a major airport have something to do with it? Or maybe we are just luckier.

There is a new word for 2020: sanitizer moms. They are the one who ran on Costco.

Remember the soccer moms of 1996 and the security moms of 2004. Today, we have sanitizer moms. Beware, they are fierce!

When I went to the supermarket, all of the “real food” was there, but the potato chip and salsa aisle was denuded. You’d think people were preparing for the Superbowl, not Armageddon and pestilence.

The sanitizer moms are stocking up to feed their kids and husbands.

I had to order toilet paper on Amazon because all the stores are out. No bleach either.

I hope Americans use this opportunity to get their houses spotlessly clean. Haha

The coronavirus is definitely going to hit the tourism industry and leisure travel. But come to think of it, I wonder how many people that count on AirBnb-ing or VRBOing their house are going to get screwed due to vacation/travel cancellations.

For example, SXSW was cancelled, Google IO was cancelled, lots of these venues were cancelled. It can’t be good for all the people that were hoping to AirBnb/Vrbo their homes like a hotel, versus more traditional leased properties with month/years leases.

Cutting off flights from China and Italy to the US seems to make sense. Closing colleges and working from home seems overkill.

I had heard that only folks over 60 had to worry, so I wasn’t really worrying.

Then I read a quote from the Surgeon General. He said the average age of those dying is 80 and the average age of those needing “medical attention” is 60. Hold on there. the average age is 60? That means those under sixty need to worry also.

In addition, some of the folks I see in the hospital on the news are in their 30s and were healthy beforehand.

I must get 3 message a day from my employer on new restrictions at work. almost all conferences we host and that our folks attend have been canceled.

So…I must admit I too have adjusted a few things now. I’ve canceled all flights to other states, and have switched travel within California to be by car not plane.

That’s all I’ve done so far. No stocking up on food or toilet paper. Yet.

Pay them to test HVAC system, random public areas at the workplace, hotel, conference center, etc.
