    Looks like all the coverage in the media about people just walking away has made it more socially acceptable. I guess an increasing number of people are thinking this way!

    We live in the information age. I don’t think we really know how long the half life of some of this information will end up being.

    I’m not convinced that the “everyone’s doing it so in time it won’t be a big deal” rationale that some people are pushing right now is going to pan out in the long run.

    Socially acceptable? If you can walk away for free who cares what society thinks. If I needed to walk away and could do it for the benefit of my family, I totally would and anyone pious enough to say they would not has not been in that situation yet.

    If they find it is in their best interests, they should walk away. It’s non-recourse debt and the banks knew that when they wrote the loans. sarcasm on The banks of course factored in a margin to account for the possibility that some of the loans would go bad. sarcasm off 😉
