If a bank only services a loan in question, they want the management fees they can charge investors. The bank couldn’t care less if the homeowner walks because they can bill the investor for the foreclosure work.
If you are the VP of the servicing division of the bank, you want to maximize your division’s revenue. If that means more foreclosures, then so be it.
