Wow, after reading the previous pots, I am surprised by the lunacy I read coming from cyphire’s posts. If anyone has anger, or is picking on anyone, or is neurotic, it is that person..
cyphire, you seem to be confused…
In one post you boast that you are an atheist, but then in the last post, you tell a story of a nice Christian family that lived a “blessed simple life”. Then you go on to state what Jesus would or would not approve of. If you were truly an atheist, you wouldn’t believe a family could be “blessed”, as blessings come from God. And if you were truly an Atheist, you wouldn’t believe that Jesus was the son of God, since there is no God, and therefore He would not have valid judgment on anyone’s behavior.I didn’t see nearly the amount of insults coming from jg… and then to tell jg that Jesus wouldn’t approve of him… that is out of line.
My advice is to drop the bashing once and for all. It’s great that you hate Bush, and Christians, and that you know the bible better than most Christians, and that you don’t believe the bible. I also see that you feel Christians will ruin your lives and that of your children. Perhaps you can go out and volunteer in your community, and try to make the world a better place. Surely you can do this in a more productive manner than spewing post after post of your hatred for half of the country.
But if you do need to continue the bashing, please, I ask nicely, do this elsewhere on the net, as the things you write are hurtful to others. This is a RE forum, and I feel it should stay that way. There are plenty of other outlets for you to express your hatred for God fearing people.
God Bless You cyphire.

HA HA HA HA HA ho ho ho ho Hahahaha – that's a HILARIOUS statement hipmatt. Must be sarcastic, because it certainly isnt based on fact.
READ MORE CAREFULLY. It is always jg starting these things. He puts out so many lures and nasty-gram postings, that most go by without being responded to… Like his one about the Greatest Generation producing mostly horrible off-spring, like "hippies", etc. Anyone care to converse on that one with him…? He's probably still waiting for a response. Fun! : )
I could fill a book with his one-liner baiting over the last year. Remember hipmatt, jg (JustGoofing) says this is all for "fun". He's just throwing "red meat" to the "libs".
Finally, cyphire's use of the words and phrases "blessed" and "son of God" have nothing to do with him actually being Christian. He is using the common, popular vernacular for discussion's sake.

June 24, 2007 at 8:01 AM #61681NotCrankyParticipantIf you don’t think getting off topic is a good idea HIP,why didn’t you just stay out of it? Does the commentary hit close to home? JG himself has scolded people for bitching about getting off topic.
For the record,I hope nobody gets the idea I am teaming up against JG. My imput is of myself and for myself, even though it does coincidentally support reasonable people everywhere. In a battle of wits I am a sherman tank and he has a pea shooter.
I win everytime and stay “cool as cucumber”.LOL.Cy
Yes,I have always been for the underdog and that is why I have not abandoned trying to reform JG :).

Have a great day all.June 24, 2007 at 5:48 PM #61744AnonymousGuestR-, my question to cyphire (unanswered by him) was because he has a short fuse and makes lots of typos. Those are hints that four-to-five years of plodding through college may not have been his bag. I’m just curious whether I can ‘read’ well or not based on a person’s postings.
For what it’s worth, college is overrated. My brother was like you, R-, an enlisted man in the Navy (YN3 on the Forrestal; what was your rating). He did not go to college. But, I think he may score higher than me on an IQ test. And, he certainly earns a comfortable living without a college sheepskin.
Nice spirited post, hp; I did not know that you had such in you! You’ve always been an even-keeled, even-handed poster.

June 24, 2007 at 9:39 PM #61781NotCrankyParticipantInteresting that your brother was enlisted. Most enlisted men either came from broken families or impoverished areas. I was a sonar tech push button E-6 at 23,despite being knocked back a stripe for going UA. I could have gone nuke except for having admitted smoking pot. Even then, the recruiters wanted me to change my statement and say I was only around people who smoked pot. Anyway, you can imagine your’s truly and the navy were not a good fit.I discovered that I was not fond of our nation’s overtures to the world during my enlistment.I guess I more or less believed we were the good guys always, up until then.Somehow Vietnam didn’t influence me one way or the other.
I had more important things to worry about earlier on.I don’t think my father finished high school or maybe even middle school. My mom might have, but I don’t know, she died when I was young and my dad would not say.He drank himself to death by the time he was 46, meanwhile we lived like rats on aid to dependent children and food stamps.I bought all my clothes and most my food since I was about 14. Of the five who stayed with my dad I am the only one who finished high school. Another made it past the ninth grade. I think it hurt my dad’s feelings that I did.He was like that. I went from third to first chair with my trumpet in a semester and he was inspired to harass me until I quit. Three older siblings lived with a more educated relative and graduated. One attained a degree from Cal Poly Pamona with the help of extended social security benefits. My youngest brother put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He was 21. I suppose that is a sin to you but I call it a tragedy. I suppose he could have just as easily have taken it out on someone else. Then we would have put him to death anyway, because he was evil.
I really don’t mean to say I am brighter than you, I have just been dying to use that tank/pea shooter joke for a while. We tap into our different kinds of intelligence to different degrees. You are probably a fine fellow. It’s just amazing how different people can be. I might be unfortunate enough to be you if I were raised in your shoes and you might be blessed with what I am cursed with if things were the other way. By the way, in my semi- orphan youth I met a few wonderful hippies. I can not even begin to match the integrity of their souls. Strangers of every kind and color gave me little samples of a good life that my parents never could. It had nothing to do with money.I can not remember one single openly religiously devout person who did. I don’t think one devout Catholic ever did a thing for any of those 8 raggedy baptised motherless children. Some public school teachers showed great affection. The physical Church was in a pretty upscale area and we were from the wrong side of the tracks. It would be like a dysfunctional family from Logan going to your church. Even at 7 years old I could tell they couldn’t wait to be done with us. I became very astute regarding the fallacies/hypocracies of religion/religious people and at 10 years old could have nearly written, independent of ever having seen it, the book “The age of Reason” by Thomas Paine. With poor syntac and punctuation of course. Some things never change :).
Well that is my last try at reforming you JG, Well, I guess I have said that before. We will see.

I might get a bit emotional on this topic – that is true. But I wouldn’t say I am a lunatic, that is a rather strong word. Everyone who runs across me finds me both engaging and super nice. My mother-in-law thinks I am too nice and people take advantage of me, but no one calls me a lunatic! I think that, just as I have done HipMatt, that you are pretty angry with my views (as I am of jg’s), and that you got a little wacky with your attack on me. I do the same thing on the other side so I understand how it happens. Neither one of us likes the others view or beliefs (or lack of them) and of course no one likes their beliefs challenged. I of course have much less to feel paranoid about because I don’t have any beliefs which are based on faith and thus my only beliefs have to do with the real world.
The two guys I hang out with the most these days are both very religious, but we enjoy each others company and we are nice to each other. They both are awesome people, they NEVER spew the stuff that a JG does. We disagree about the existence of god and have some cool discussions about it – but they have great values (unlike much of the anti-social and anti-christian stuff that some on this forum express) even if we don’t agree on the existence of god or the dogma of Christianity.
Like Rustico I rarely run across vocal Christians who actually practice what they preach. The vast majority of non-vocal Christians are there for their families and the camaraderie – which seems like a nice thing for them – and it doesn’t affect my life in a negative way. The vocal ones use their faith as a weapon – and the sad thing is that it is in direct opposition to what I understand (ok HipMatt?) are the teachings of (I don’t think he was anything except a guy that got tortured for his very sweet philosophy) Jesus Christ (that also ok HipMatt?)
Bush does make me vomit, and of course his Evangelical Christian utterances, his immoral values, and his belief that JC told him to run for President make him an object of my derision, and of course since he has screwed things up so badly for my country – I have nothing but contempt for him and his cronies. That being said – I also have nothing but contempt for people who worship at the alter of Bush – to me they are morally bankrupt and/or have traded their values for validation of their fantasy – a dangerous and heady brew of socially destructive beliefs and behaviors.
Thank you LostKitty! You have faith and you (like Rustico) have stuck up for me (again). If all Religious people were like you, I don’t think I would be such an angry guy!
Rustico – that is an amazing story. If you were religious, Bush would be using you as an example of how people can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. You have overcome great adversity in life and you should be congratulated for it! It is sad, however, that we both share the idea that the most vocal and morally self-righteous religious folks are often of low morals, character, et. cetera. Religion doesn’t make people better or improve their morals, just as the lack of it isn’t a barrier to such.
Just a thought – but if we could put the religion back in peoples homes and places of worship, and out of politics maybe we can steer this country back to a path of moral values, and remove the self-serving pretend religious people that are unduly controlling it now.
p.s. jg – I never did graduate college! But I have completed 121 credits and dropped out in my final semester. My business partner has only 60 credits. School moved too slowly for me and I didn’t exactly have great study habits. Most all of the 140 professionals who worked for me did have college degrees, but our chief programmer (the guy who has maintained the code that I wrote) was a college drop-out Craftmatic bed salesman!
Also please don’t expect that I wait by my computer for your missives. I have a life outside of the blog but rest assured, I will always respond to you in time (or my friends will!)

No Cyphire, I am not one bit religious! : ) I just think the stories in the bible are nice to teach little (3-7 years old) children about how the treat others, and I believe that Christ actually lived and preached, and was some kind of AMAZING philosopher (like our friend Rustico!). I have no faith in the afterworld, or underworld, or any other "force" besides that of nature and nurture.
I sure hope you guys stick around a while. Before, it was only PerryChase, and powayseller who argued from a more liberal perspective. A few others would jump in occasionally, but havent heard them lately.
