ParticipantDWCAP. Good points.
To be honest, we are buying where and what we are buying because we can, not because I think it is the only way to raise my kids right or do right for my kids. In fact, I have always been concerned about my kids growing up in too comfortable and privilaged an environment for fear that they may develop a sense of entitlement and lack work ethic. This is because I grew up feeling lucky in my societally impoverished youth and give credit to that youth and how my mom raised me for my success as an adult.
For me the answer is not to wish my kids grew up as I did. I don’t. It was not all roses and petals. The answer is that I have to actually try to be a good enough parent to make sure they learn those same lessons some other way. If they don’t learn their lessons it is all on me and their mother.

ParticipantRD-
I’m sure you’ll find something in a reasonable amount of time once you move down here.
I’m not sure why everyone got hung up on the wife thing, what caught my attention was the car thing! Remember us Piggs when you grow tired of your RS4/m3/m5/m6/AMG, etc. Some of us don’t mind hand me downs!
🙂
All the best,

ParticipantRaptor,
I think when you are ready to look you might take and unconventional approach, alongside the traditional, look at listings . No,I am not trying to trigger another bout of OCD. Ask around, run an add as a buyer in whatever kind of community press you have up there. Just relax about it and see what comes of it.You want a special house/site as much as a deal why not try? Look at houses that you like that aren’t for sale and try to ask if they are thinking about selling in the next couple of years. Didn’t you drive by a few and say “wow I wished that was for sale!”
You might get lucky.
Maybe someone wants to sell a a little down the road and will give you and option at a good price since they are secure in having at least a potential buyer? I am not fishing for work with you and you know I respect your agent and your decision to work the way you have, but why not find someone up there that is connected and will beat the bushes for you?April 13, 2008 at 9:57 AM #185996NotCranky
