Like sdr (who lives in the same general neighborhood), we basically do all of our living within 15 minutes (usually less) of our house: work, shopping, kids’ activities, etc. Everything is extremely convenient for us, which is why we’re here in the first place. For us, we are all about keeping our commutes to a minimum.

I can jump on the freeway in about 5 minutes and be get downtown in less than 30 minutes other than rush hour. I can also drive up to Irvine in less than 1 hour or LA in about 90 minutes. I have an airport about 10 minutes away that flies to LAX in about 30 minutes- an airport that actually has non-stop flights just about anywhere in the world.

I’m in Chicago now and I don’t think SD downtown can even come close to be comparable. There are so many parks here, you don’t have to go very far to be at a park. Millennium Park has free concerts and other activities. There are trees everywhere, there are grassy medians, there are subways, there are very interesting architectures (combination of old and new architectures), etc. It just feel much more well put together.
