Pfizer vaccine 90% effective. Biden getting sh*t done already !!!
Gonna be a huge day in long account. Selling in short accountxi lost out on some gains but biggest position was 2x gold etf which is gonna get crushed so net net not much difference.
Thank you Joe for saving the world!
November 9, 2020 at 7:27 AM #820197CoronitaParticipantI had trouble getting into trading account at schwab.
I kept getting “symbol” not valid while I was trying to sell carnival cruises in the first half hour…it cost me an extra 60cents/share.
I was pissed…but then again, I wasn’t expecting a 1 day 36% gain. makes no sense whatsoever. Pfe is only up 6% but carnival up 36%? Err nevermind. I’ll take it …

Same here with schwab. I believe if you call their customer service and complain they usually are more than likely to compensate you for that 60 cents/share “loss”. TDAmeritrade on the other hand had no issues.

You’re a funny dude. Market is definitely crazy, not just today but the 10% or so gain last week when it appeared that Biden is likely going to win. I am curious what happened to the belief that if Biden wins the stock market will go to hell?
Bottom line, what to do? Buy, sell or hold? I am at 60 stocks, 40 cash.

It really is funny. Science trolled Trump.
I finally got logged in. My long account is up about 1.5%. I shouldnt be surprised as I designed it to go up less on big up days and down less on big down days. Its performing as expected cruising right up the middle.
In the shorter term account Im 60/40 also right now. That account while up over 40% YTD is actually flat for the day. Thats fine. I’m gonna watch and wait on that cash looking for one more great opportunity that one can see coming more based upon momentum more than a surprise vaccine announcement.
While not a huge up day for me it still feels like so much winning for everyone. Glad I didnt sell in June

Here’s a conspiracy theory, it’s not a coincidence that this news is released a few days after the election OR IS IT?

I think it just came when it did but it would make me happy if they waited on purpose

Yeah, I’m undecided if they waited on purpose.
If they had, I think it is the right thing to do as releasing it beforehand might have unduly influenced the election. Kind of the way companies often wait to announce news until after the markets have closed. Give people a good long time to mull it over and not make a rash buy/sell move.
November 9, 2020 at 2:37 PM #820211sdrealtorParticipantSo Im curious if the recent events change anything about the position of the OP or Rich on a sell now call? Or does it still stand?
November 9, 2020 at 4:45 PM #820214ltsdddParticipantI’d say the likelihood of a selloff has just gone up significantly. We’re already up about 12% for Nov. How much higher will it go?
I liquidated one of my investments today. I will continue to sell into the runups and then wait the opportunity to get back in.

I never had a position on it. Still don’t.

Duly noted. I wonder if dave’s stance has changed either way.
