Inflating tires results in a 3% savings in fuel efficiency. That’s significant when applied across the board to the US vehicle fleet. I’d add: lowering the speed limit, purchasing fuel-efficient vehicles instead of gas-sucking SUV’s, taking public transit occasionally, plus major infrastructure investments and subsidies of domestic and alternative energy initiatives including natural gas, solar, nuclear, biofuels and wind.

Post 9/11, from 2001 to 2006, our consumption of foreign oil increased by 25% — POST 9/11!! Fully 50% of that increase was due to changes in the composition of the US vehicle fleet. Bigger cars and trucks with poorer gas mileage, SUVs, Hummers, F150s, etc.

So while we watch our buildings get knocked down and fight a war over in the Middle East with 4000 Americans dead and ~30000 permanently injured, we drive back and forth to our shopping centers in ridiculously large vehicles that burn lots of fuel and we make fun of people who talk about conservation.

For this, we send warehouses full of US money and gold to places like Saudi Arabia every single day, and in turn they send it out to their Wahhabi madrassas in Afg/Pak, Indonesia and East Africa, the minor leagues for Al Qaeda, who then use it to recruit and brainwash fanatics to blow up more of our buildings.

To quote my favorite television show, the game is the game. It was true in 2000 when the media was hating on Gore (and no, I don’t buy that as a good reason for losing) and it was true when Hillary tried to go for it.

However, the argument that he is dumb or uninformed just does not square with his record, credentials, or his political performance. If people want to disagree with his actual policies, they could make strong arguments (but crappier soundbytes). Thats was the sheer joy of the debate with surveyor. Just assertions backed up by soundbytes and underpinned by pundit pieces. Real deep.

The interesting bit is having someone I actually (mostly) agree with in a position to win.

Don’t know if he’ll make it but it sure is fun to listen to loyal bushies make fun of Obama’s misspeaks in the mean time.

To try and state that ny presidential candidate is dumb is ignorant in and of itself. Barrack Obama is a Harvard Lawyer. Definitely not lacking in itellect and probably one of the greatest speakers of our modern era.

John McCain has been in the Senate forever. Has done as mch as one can expect for his country.

Hillary Clinton. She is a woman who got into Yale Law at a time hen ther were not too many Female Lawyers.

And even Geaorge Bush. Say what you will but the guy went to Yale Undergrad and has his MBA from Harvard. There was a lot of nepitism but he was not the dumb ass many paint him out to be. Iraq had not worked out. He should be held accountable. Time will tell whther is was a complete failue or not.

Bottom line. We have good leaders in the Country and regardless of the party I vote for, I support the process and leadership that we have had and will have in the future. Arguing about inellect of our presidents if foolish.
