SAN MARCOS: 14 arrested at traffic checkpoint

More dangerous per mile traveled. But, of course, most people have low tolerance for walking, especially when drunk – no one’s going to try to walk 10 miles home from the bar. And there are all sorts of other confounding factors. E.g. drunk walkers are more likely to be wasted than drunk drivers.

In a similar key, bicycling is more dangerous per mile traveled than riding a motorcycle.

If anything, he’s saving his life and that of others. I could never be a cop. I don’t know how they have the patience to deal w/some of those drunks.

I can vouch as a witness to about 10-14 cars getting hit on the ping pong effect. Crown point 2003, overlooking the bay on CP Drive. Just after the sun went down, we are all standing outside a buddies house and from down the street we hear a crash and see a car and sparks flying. A lexus bounced off car after car, i think it was 11 in total and came to rest in front of our house as the driver smashed into the back of a 4runner and broke her axle. It was an epic site as everyone hanging out on the bay ran up and surrounded the car.

Regarding the local SEH checkpoint, i know someone who went through it and thanked god on facebook that she got through it. Suprised the cops havent started monitoring facebook 😉

They had the same checkpoint in the same spot sometime two years ago.

I always recommended allowing allow drunk driving between the hours of 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. with no speed limit so they can just kill each other off.

Sober drivers would be off the road and safe, knowing it was not the time to be on the road.
