San Marcos has nothing on PB. I went on a few ride-alongs in PB. Some people are weaving all over the road. I almost looks fake. And there are so many ping-pong accidents from DUIs hitting parked cars, then swerving away, then overcorrecting and hitting some more parked cars. I heard once something crazy like 10-14 parked cars were hit at one time. Not to mention the one DUI that drove his car into the front of a house.
It’s a problem. Way too many DUIs in PB. I think there would be more, but every time a cop arrests a DUI, that takes him out of the field for a solid 2 hours. There’s not enough cops in PB to arrest all the drunk drivers. A lot of them driving w/out a license is b/c they had previous DUIs and had their license taken away.
So why drink and drive. Why not just drink at home. Or if you’re out drinking, get a cab. Whatever it costs to get a cab has to be less than the bar tab or the 10k+ it would cost if you get a DUI, not to mention the time you spend in jail if you kill someone.
So many ride-alongs where the DUI was arrested and he’s screaming, “You’re ruining my life.” As if the cop forced alcohol down his throat and held a gun to his head and made him drive. If anything, he’s saving his life and that of others. I could never be a cop. I don’t know how they have the patience to deal w/some of those drunks.
I am surprised they had 14 arrests on a Sunday night in San Marcos and it wasn’t a holiday or anything.
I can vouch as a witness to about 10-14 cars getting hit on the ping pong effect. Crown point 2003, overlooking the bay on CP Drive. Just after the sun went down, we are all standing outside a buddies house and from down the street we hear a crash and see a car and sparks flying. A lexus bounced off car after car, i think it was 11 in total and came to rest in front of our house as the driver smashed into the back of a 4runner and broke her axle. It was an epic site as everyone hanging out on the bay ran up and surrounded the car.
Regarding the local SEH checkpoint, i know someone who went through it and thanked god on facebook that she got through it. Suprised the cops havent started monitoring facebook π
They had the same checkpoint in the same spot sometime two years ago.

March 25, 2010 at 3:37 PM #531186sdduuuudeParticipantI always recommended allowing allow drunk driving between the hours of 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. with no speed limit so they can just kill each other off.
Sober drivers would be off the road and safe, knowing it was not the time to be on the road.
